The ever growing in popularity, The Watering Hole, was last night invaded by four earst while Mudcatters seeking good beer, music and accommodation.

All was provided and plentiful hugs, smiles, laughter re-sounded around the whole building. Thus fed and watered the replete folkies returned back to whence they came, this morning.

Well meet my friends, and haste thee back. More of same to follow, no doubt. The promised mudcat signitory book is now in place.

OK, I admit it - I can't keep away from the place :-)

Col K took me, The Badger and Firecat (her first visit) up to Whitby for the afternoon and then on to Guisborough for the evening. It was the Bunkhouse (country and western type music) as it was a Monday.

The faces on Magician and Gillie were a picture, but we were not immediately barred and encouraged to take up the offer of overnight accomodation (thanks for the beds!).

The ale was well up to standard with Caledonian Deuchars IPA as guest beer this month.

Folk News:- there is now a club there on the second Tuesday of the month. It's a singers club but I understand there will be occasional guests.

I don't know about it costing him a few drinks but when Magician got the Watering Hole I told him I would only go if I was allowed to pull pints .........

Fatal error as I now have my own staff polo shirt up there!! :-))

But it's a really friendly pub with NO JUKE BOX - but plenty of music.

Try and get there if you can - and sign the Mudbook.

*smile*...it is well to keep in mind how veddy international this place is, and that it 'might' be good to hint at what continent we are talking about when discussing good drink and music...

(We once got chided for mentioning "The Royal Mile" and NOT noting that this one was in Maryland, USA)

;-) We may not be International in the true sense of the word, but we can be found in England, not far from Whitby.

Giok are you perhaps form the Hull area? Our pub is well worth a visit, accomodation can be arranged (That's free!!) but you sort your own breaky out.

The Folk Club will be run every 2nd Friday, that is to say the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month. Come all and sing, recite, play enjoy!

Let's face it - a midweek visit means I don't know what DAY it is - let alone when things are happening!!! (sometimes I think I'm in a timewarp :-) )

Glad to hear the club is going twice a month, but will it stick to 2nd and 4th Fridays or do you mean fortnightly? I am easily confused when things change the week I expect them on.
