I think ‘corndog’ is actually ‘corned dog’ as opposed to ‘corned beef’. It’s a Dundee delicacy, very popular in the poorer parts of the city.

Subject: Lyr Add: UNDER THE ULLAPOOL MOON (Michael Marra)
From: John MacKenzie
Date: 13 May 12 - 10:23 AM

UNDER THE ULLAPOOL MOON O/M

Under the Cumbernauld sky
Jimmy and Moira were wondering why
He loved her so much that he blackened her eye
Under the Cumbernauld sky.

Under the Ullapool moon
Jimmy and Moira were bathing their gloom
The palm trees were sulking
The gulls were in tears
She threw a tantrum and he disappeared
But a light shone to help her back up to her feet
Saying "Stalwart and brave Caledonian Hotel
Please to transport me from this place to hell"
Under the Ullapool moon.

Then down by the post office
Enter a sailor
Fresh from the queue for the coffee he smiles
And they laugh by the job club
And he throws down his coat
And palm trees are swaying
And gulls they are singing
And Moira is smiling with stars in her eyes
Under the Ullapool sky.

Under the Cumbernauld sky
Janice and Raymond are saying goodbye
He loved her so much that he blackened her eye
Under the Cumbernauld sky
And neither was cumbersome
Neither was auld
Angels were singing and orphans found parents
Who spread all their wages around and around
Under the Ullapool moon

last 2 lines of 2nd verse - [ I think ]

"What a scene - it's like a dream,
Skinned ma knees oan a submarine"

last line, 3rd verse -

"crehin' (crying) oot tae the faithful".

The 3 ladies in question were slagging off each other's housing schemes in Dundee while having their "piece" while picking raspberries in Blairgowrie, - nowadays, they'd come from Eastern Europe.

I think it might be 'Whitfield' in the 2nd verse not 'Fintry'
(Maybe Mr Marra uses on or the other depending how he feels on the night?)

Being an American I'm not sure of this, but isn't "baps" a rude term for mammaries?

Subject: Lyr Add: BAPS AND PASTE (Michael Marra)
From: Effsee
Date: 29 Mar 07 - 08:34 AM

Hi guitar, these lyrics are transcribed, as best I can, from a recording of a live performance.

BAPS & PASTE
Chorus.
Baps and paste and corndog....(bread rolls and corned beef)
Peace on earth and earth on piece...(piece = sandwich)
Butcher's hough and tinkie's gauchles...(gelatinous mixture of cow product, Tinsmith's phlegm)
Wha can tell the difference?

Oh wha could bear to bide in Beechwood?...(housing scheme)
Fowk keep donkeys in the bath!
Eh hae better things tae dae
Than hosin' doon a donkey's arse.
Whaur on earth wid ye keep the coal
If the creature occupied the bath?

Ch.

Eh dream aboot a hoose in Fintry...(housing scheme)
Up tae my ears in junkies pish
Corrugated iron curtains
Sittin' in the loaby guddlin' fish
But it seems, like a dream
up to ma knees in a submarine

Ch.

In Mid eh saw a big Alsatian...(Mid Craigie, another housing scheme)
Fag in it's mooth and a few tattoos
Barkin' at the Launderette
On it's feet were pointed shoes.
Pointed shoes on a big Alsatian?
Eh, and it hid Brylcreem on it's ears!
Eh thocht that wis the speech therapist
Preaching (?) tae the faithfull
Ch.

'at the berries' is definitely berry-picking.

"at the berries" - probably relates to soft-fruit-picking - raspberry picking - a common-place part-time employment for summertime.

Of course, it micht be some specific bit o Peh City jargon wi which eh'm unfamiliar.

"Baps and Paste" appears on an album called "The Woollen Mill Story" by someone called "Saint Andrew." That's the only recording I could find.

The web site apparently has no lyrics, but it gives this description of the song: "3 Dundee women at the berries amuse themselves by insulting each other's housing schemes." (I have no idea what "at the berries" means.)
