Subject: BS: I million for The Public Gardens From: GUEST,James Date: 14 Oct 03 - 03:40 PM A radio phone in in Halifax, N.S. raised nearly a million dollars for the restoration of the historic and much loved public Gardens in this city. Much thanks to Maritime broadcasting for arranging this. This Park is beloved by many and was severly damaged by hrricane Juan. Now we need another fund raiser to help restore Point Pleasant which was devastated. |

Subject: RE: BS: I million for The Public Gardens From: GUEST,James Date: 15 Oct 03 - 07:23 AM I am not sure as that Park is not in Nova Scotia. If it was, I am sure the people of St. John's will come to the rescue. It is wonderful to see how the people here really rallied together in the aftermath of the hurricane. From bad things come good things, and that is what amazes me about people, the capacity they have to be truly good and caring. It far outstrips the capacity for unkindness. |

Subject: RE: BS: I million for The Public Gardens From: Willie-O Date: 15 Oct 03 - 10:26 AM Yup, you can always count on that Maritime spirit. But raising a million bucks on one phone-in show is astonishing! St John's Newfoundland is a long way from Halifax and was not in the path of Hurricane Juan. It did get some of Hurricane Kate but mostly rain. Willie-O in rainy Ontari-o |
