Subject: BS: TIME Magazine Person of the Year
From: GUEST,pdc

It's that time of year again -- soon TIME Magazine will choose its person of the year. Note that it is not an award -- TIME itself calls it an acknowledgment of the person who, over the past year, has affected the world the most, for good or bad, better or worse.

That being said, here's what I would like to see on the cover of TIME:

Person of the Year, 2003.

Please note the exception to my usual whitebread, prissy language!

For years now,I have coveted the honor; I actually came close in 2001 with my expose' of the accursed Manatee, but lost to a lesser being

I thank maybe this year will be it!!

That really is very funny, pdc. Send it to Time- maybe they'll do a version of it. Bound to give them a laugh.

Did you see the latest Time/CNN poll? Quote: The poll showed that 47 percent were somewhat likely or very likely to vote to re-elect Bush and 48 percent were somewhat unlikely or very unlikely to do so.

We're on our way!

Well, now things get interesting. The current issue of TIME has Bush on the cover (link below), and I'm not sure they would run him twice in that short a time period, so perhaps someone else will be POTY for 2003. Any suggestions?

Bush on current TIME cover

George W Bush, Osama Bin Laden? Except for the headgear, what's the difference?

I believe Osama has a higher IQ. So does his camel.

Well, pdc, if you would agree to a subtitle, I would agree with you. The subtitle: "The terrorists, regardless of where they may be killing innocent people."

A very good choice in my opinion, but I do think Tony Blair should be there alongside our president.

Not to give offence, DougR, but you have tunnel vision and tunnel hearing -- you only see and hear what your president wants you to. Consider this: if you are in the "true believer" mode, as I think you are, how can you make a rational judgment as to whether or not you have a good president, or whether or not he is representing the US as an honourable nation in the world?

Isn't that more or less how the vote went last time?

If that's the case, they'd better get some UN observers in to keep a watchful eye on the voting in Florida next time.

It is pretty obvious that it has to be George W., but two other big influences on the future this year would be two people most people have never heard of -- the head of Toyota, and the Attorney General of New York State.

Tony Blair would be my candidate: without his defence of the war, there is a pretty good chance it would never have happened; or if it had, without him, there would have been a better than even chance there would be no United Nations any more. Also Kelly would probably be still alive, now that the lie about Tony not have been involved has been blown open. He is a liar who believes his own lies, like his pal George. I despise him, but there it is.

yours,

Peter T.

Fleetfoot Blair would be right at home in a disco, wouldn't he! He's a regular dancing fool.

Fun site, Cluin.

I don't think it's fair that all you people are picking on President Bush. If it wasn't for him . . . . OK, help me out here. If it wasn't for him . . . .

If it were not for Bush, we'd have hundreds more American citizens alive and well. Afghanistan would still be a psycho backwater struggling under a bizarrely dysfunctional theocracy, and Hassan and sons would still be in power and didging responsibility at the expense of the Iraqi people.

pdc: no offence taken. You have a very negative opinion of GWB and I have a very positive one. I don't think anyhting written on this forum will change the mind of either of us.

I agree, DougR, but let's give it just one teensy try. I'm against GWB based on his behaviour. Why are you for him?
