It is a very old collection originally published in the early years of the 20th century, and reissued in the 1920's. WOW!!!! I love it. And I almost swallowed my tongue laughing at the book of Bollocks from Management. Damn, but won't I use this while organizing to show that some things are universal.....hahahahahahaha. And you ....... the chocolates..... you are trying to turn me back into Fat Mick again, eh? I am going to take your advice and enjoy them and the other goodies through the holiday season, and get back to losing right after. You are a very special person, Carole, and I am very grateful. Candy - old childhood favorites: sugar water in wax bottles, wax lips, candy buttons, and a candy necklace. Two cook books: one for wild game and fish, the other is Mary Ann's Gilligans Island Cook Book. (The latter will go well with Aunt Bee's Mayberry CB, which I already have.) Some old postcards from the 40's. A video cassette of Mudcatters in performance. I can't wait to see what you guys look like. A jar of Marmite. Really. I tasted it, although my roommate warned me not to. HOLY COW, DO PEOPLE REALLY EAT THAT STUFF? No wonder my secret Santa chose to remain anonymous. But I have his/her address, and I'm an officer of the law, so I can find out who it is. But I won't. It seems that possession of Marmite with intent to distribute is not against the law. It should be, but it isn't. Anyway, thanks, whoever you are. The rest of the presents were great, and now I can contribute to any future Marmite threads that come up. Merry Christmas. Steve |

One of Old American rural singers from Kentucky and one of Doc Watson and Bill Munroe. Lovely old pictures on the fronts. It's also hard to type with a beautiful brown bear in my left hand. I've let go the bear & forwarded to track 8 to listen to you singing Lord Franklin (Les Barker version) - I love it!! The Lord of Misrule card will be shared wth my Morris dancing friends when I see them next. I haven't listened to the Mrs Miller CD all the way through yet so I can't really tell what I think about her singing style, although what I have heard is definitely "different". The blue pottery cup is beautiful. I love the colour, and the little owl is beautiful too, and so are the shells and the stone. I love the notes you wrote about everything. But, the Ceoltóirí CD, Women of Ireland .... what can I say? I thought I would never hear a music group to rival Sileas or the Poozies, but this is pure musical brilliance - not just technically brilliant, but scintillating, pure voices, pure instrumental parts, beautiful choices of songs and tunes. Wonderful! Thank you so much. I know, after only one listen, that this is going to be one of my favourite CD's. Helen |

Inside the big pack were several smaller packages. One was a bag of chocolate truffles -- yummy!! A second one, wrapped in deep purple tissue paper, contained a pair of beautiful red candles, painted with spirals and other designs -- definitely too beautiful to burn!! A third package contained a beautiful ceramic pin (broach) with a viking-age like design of a rider on horse. It almost makes me want to get dressed up, so I can have an excuse to wear it in public. Then, there was a cd-rom with my Santa singing four of her songs, and she has a lovely, deep voice. The note inside the jewel case promised that there is a full CD of her work coming in January. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears perked for it, I expect it will be a good one! But the last inner package was the biggest of all: I tore off the tissue paper, and slipped it out of the bubble wrap to find a Sandman book by Neil Gaimon: "Book III: Dream Country." I'd forgotten that I'd said in my hints list that friends So: Yay!! Chocolate and pretties, and music, and a new book! if that's not Yule, I don't know what is... Oh, and she included a lovely card with a moose head on the outside, and a hint on the inside -- her Mudcat nick starts and ends with "A" and there are two blanks in the middle... That could only mean: Alba! She only just joined us in February of this year, so this may be a bit late in coming, but: WELCOME anyway!! |
