Subject: Australian Fiddler Pixie Jenkins From: Beer Date: 26 Nov 03 - 04:28 PM I've read that "Pixie" is one of Australia's top fiddlers. My question is. Does Australian fiddling differ from Canadian fiddling from the Maritimes? Or can you but a comparison to it like Irish, Scotish, New Endland and so on? |

Subject: RE: Austrialian Fiddling From: Bassic Date: 27 Nov 03 - 04:59 PM I have tried playing my fiddle standing on my head, Australian style, it isnt easy, and it hurts!! You need to develope a completely different bowing technique to compensate for the "reverse gravity effect" and it buggers up any chance of playing in the Northern Hemisphere with any degree of sympathy. :-( |
