Subject: RE: Origins: Right Said Fred-what are they moving? From: GUEST,Joy Date: 10 Aug 10 - 12:00 AM Hi - I found all these messages SO interesting! I remember 'Right Said Fred' all those years ago, and I always thought they were talking about a piano, AND I even thought a piano was mentioned in the song. the Lyrics I've looked up, certainly don't say it was a piano, but when you're a kid, in Australia, back then - you believe what others tell you. AND I thought the song ended by saying - 'and now we find we're at the wrong Flat'. Anyone got any suggestions, on how I might have got that idea?? thanks a lot - Joy |
Subject: RE: Origins: Right Said Fred-what are they moving? From: Nigel Parsons Date: 16 Oct 18 - 10:54 AM Ok. A (one) definitive answer. It was a piano. Just been played on BBC Radio 2 (15:45 local time) during an interview with Bernard Cribbins. Bernard confirmed the author wrote it following the delivery of a piano to a basement flat. The basement bit also answer's the question (from 2005): What I could never understand was: if they want to "drop the blighter through" (presumably downwards), then why do they remove the ceiling ABOVE it??! |
