Subject: Make a Getaway Camp Song From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 10 Jan 04 - 02:52 PM Hello everyone! The following idea came to me in the shower this morning. The Getaway needs a camp song. I suggest we steal a song (in the best folk tradition) and make our own verses. I learned the following camp song at Philmont Scout Ranch. I later learned it was also sung in the Armed Forces. The first two verses are learned (but altered for the Getaway). The last one I made up. One suggestion: try not to have your verse end in "all the time", it gets old quickly. The coffee here at Philmont they say is mighty fine, It's good for cuts and scratches and tastes like Iodine. CHO: I don't want no more of Philmont life. Gee, Ma, I wanna go. But they won't let me go. Gee, Ma, I wanna go home. The biscuits here at Philmont they say are mighty fine, But one rolled off the table and killed a pal of mine. CHO: The purists here at Ramblewood they say are mighty fine, But they want to sing all verses and they know ninety-nine. CHO; I don't want no more of Getaway life. Gee, Ma, I wanna go. But they won't let me go. Gee, Ma, I wanna go home. Roger in Baltimore |
Subject: RE: Make a Getaway Camp Song From: Jeri Date: 10 Jan 04 - 03:28 PM Roger, he knows every song ever written about food And every time he sings, I'm in a hungry sort of mood It's a long, long way uphill to just get to the gym And then we walk uphill some more to get back down again |
Subject: RE: Make a Getaway Camp Song From: Tinker Date: 11 Jan 04 - 02:09 PM Showers here at Getaway, provide us water hot Translucent shower curtains tell the tales we'd rather not Music here at Getaway goes through the night they say The lines about the coffee machine testify next day The average age at Getaway's a secret never told It's only the age we're acting and that's very young and bold. |
Subject: RE: Make a Getaway Camp Song From: KT Date: 11 Jan 04 - 02:57 PM So sad to say the Getaway's a place I've not yet been From what I hear though, newcomers are kindly welcomed in. 2004's the year I hope to visit Ramblewood I've wanted to for oh so long. This year I think I should. And all you other mudcat folks, who've said, "I'll go someday." Perhap's 2004's the year YOU'LL make the Getaway! |
