Subject: RE: Tony Rose Project From: pavane Date: 06 Feb 04 - 08:16 AM Good luck - I will look forward to it. Unfortunatly, when I saw Tony at Pontardawe many years ago (early 1970's), I didn't record him, but I greatly enjoyed the evening. |
Subject: RE: Tony Rose Project From: The Borchester Echo Date: 06 Feb 04 - 07:29 AM OK, back to what I said above....chez Pete Coe seems a good place to start asking since he was there at the time Leader was wound up. |
Subject: RE: Tony Rose Project From: Kevin Sheils Date: 06 Feb 04 - 05:02 AM Unfortunately Countess I was never a collector of tapes of club nights although I was at many of Tony's gigs when he lived in London. Now I wonder if Bill Leader has any outtakes of the sessions for his albums that were not part of the deal that saw them going eventually to CM. Probably not, and could possibly cause problems anyway, but may be worth exploring if anyone has contact with Bill. I lost touch with him when he moved from round the corner to me in London. |

Subject: RE: Tony Rose Project From: Crane Driver Date: 05 Feb 04 - 05:25 PM I have a tape of Tony singing at the Triangle Folk Club, Edinburgh, sometime in the early '70s - I'll look it out. Quality of recording is no doubt poor, but the quality of the performance will surely shine through. You're welcome to use anything on it that you like. PM me with the address you'd like it sent to. Subject: RE: Tony Rose Project From: Dave Hanson Date: 05 Feb 04 - 08:43 AM Tony sang with Pete and Chris Coe and Nic Jones in that great band Bandogs, Pete would be a good contact, he's on line at either Ryburn Three Step or Redshift Records, [ I think ] eric |
Subject: RE: Tony Rose Project From: The Borchester Echo Date: 05 Feb 04 - 06:22 AM I've alerted the usual suspects (wake up Kevin Sheils!) to sort through their junk...could take some time. This is wonderful news. Tony Rose's glorious voice should be available everywhere. I'm so looking forward to the results. |
Subject: Tony Rose Project From: Ralphie Date: 05 Feb 04 - 05:43 AM I've just received an E Mail from Tonys daughter Laura, regarding a project to create a retrospective CD of Tonys life. So, chaps....anybody got any live recordings of Mr Rose in their attics?? My breath is bated Regards Ralphie |
