BS: American Idol

This is BS because it's not really about music. Is it?

Watched the show to see what the fuss was about. Other than thinking Simon was nicer than the guys I ran into in the music industry, thought it was harmless. Lately I've noticed a series of articles complaining that the author thought that voters were not voting based on how well performers sang, but on how much they like certain individuals. It had turned into a popularity contest.

Have we reached the stage where the pop music industry has forgotten that it's a always been a popularity contest and hasn't been about the music for years? It's only about the money.

I've only seen the UK version of this, but I hate Simon Cowell!

The show, which I had to watch once, is one I chose never to watch again. It ranks up there with those damned 'reality TV' shows. Boring, mindless drivel with not a single redeeming quality except that they end after what seems like a year but is only an hour.
