Subject: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Morticia Date: 12 May 04 - 12:04 PM The Pixie and I were talking about all the folkie parodies we are never likely to get around to writing and realised they would make pretty good t-shirt slogans....even considering that only folkies will get the joke. So I was messing about with a graphics programme and came up with these designs....Whistling Pixie Designs If you've got a few minutes, could you go take a look and tell me which, (if any) you think are funniest and whether you would buy such a t-shirt, and if so, what do you think you would pay? |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: katlaughing Date: 12 May 04 - 12:50 PM The ones I could read were hysterical, but i could only get the thumbnails; when I clicked to see the BIG picture, they didn't work right. I LOVE the Wild Rover, Cockles and Mussels and the Dark Settee one!! I think you are onto a good thing with these! luvyakat |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Amos Date: 12 May 04 - 12:53 PM A lot of grins here. I like the Harley riders, all of whom look like Big Mick for some reason...but I'm not a t-shirt buyer. A |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: JennyO Date: 12 May 04 - 01:00 PM I like the Morris ones, a lighter shade of ale, blood red noses and maybe drop of Nelson's bud and give me the tequila. Seeing I'm in Oz though, it would probably be too expensive to get a t shirt. Good idea though. |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: MAG Date: 12 May 04 - 01:17 PM I don't get 'em all. The ones I get are a scream. things like that go for around $15 over here. |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Megan L Date: 12 May 04 - 01:29 PM OK how many pints when you thought this was a good idea? EEK hold on a cup of tea and a kitkat and they are brillient ok either you are a genius or davids putting something in the tea :) |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Kim C Date: 12 May 04 - 01:49 PM Wild Rover, Lighter Shade of Ale, Lord of the Dark Settee |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: jimmyt Date: 12 May 04 - 03:09 PM Morty and Pixie, They are all quite clever, but somehow to me, the Every cloud has a silver lemming just tickeled me! I just sat here and giggled like a dumb ass! If possible I would like to order one for my son! jimmyt |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Morticia Date: 12 May 04 - 03:58 PM Hey, our first order, how wonderful!!! Jimmy, I haven't worked out costings yet as I am still in market research phase, but as soon as I have a price, I'll send you a pm if that's okay?Let me know what size you want and his will be one of the first made. |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: jacqui c Date: 12 May 04 - 04:55 PM I loved Cockles and Muscles and the Dark Settee was pretty good too. Are you going to do them in colours or just white? |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: vectis Date: 12 May 04 - 05:13 PM Very droll. I Like 'em. My son would adore the tequila one; so like him it could be a photo. When do they go on sale? Mary |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Morticia Date: 12 May 04 - 05:36 PM I think we should be able to do colours and white ones.....I just need to talk to the printers.....was waiting for some feedback from here before I commited cold, hard cash....so thanks for the feedback everyone. |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Peace Date: 12 May 04 - 05:41 PM Tequila, bud, whiter shade of ale, wild rover. In Canada, such t-shirts would go for $20.00. I bought one for the caption, "I am trying to see things from your point of view but I can't stick my head that far up my ass." Paid $22.00 for it. I don't even wear it anywhere. Just bought it to have it. Bruce M |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Noreen Date: 12 May 04 - 07:39 PM Lemming is my favourite, and also like Nelson's Bud, Morris Minor (I have someone in mind for this), Chicken in a draft and the dark settee. Not in a financial position to order anything now, but like the idea a lot. :0) |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 12 May 04 - 08:01 PM Count me in for a silver lemming and I'll see what my addled brain can come up with for you to illustrate! I give you permission to use my 'Bantam of the Opera' if you can find the right chicken. LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: katlaughing Date: 12 May 04 - 08:48 PM Anyone else had a problem being able to view the larger images? |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 12 May 04 - 08:48 PM I take it you are getting them screenprinted - if you had them printed as iron on transfers, we could get them into Australia much cheaper - and we can then iron them on to the tshirt or other garment of our choice... there's a couple there I find interesting - depending on price Robin |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: YorkshireYankee Date: 13 May 04 - 12:00 AM My faves: Cockles & Muscles, Morris Minor, Nelson's Bud. I'd be most likely to buy Morris Minor -- depending on cost. I think charging £10 is reasonable, but to be honest, I prolly wouldn't buy one unless it was quite inexpensive, cos I have SO many t-shirts already, that I *very* rarely buy new ones these days (sorry!). Cheers, YY |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: TS Date: 13 May 04 - 12:04 AM I personally like the tshirt that says the following....on the front "PENIS"...on the back.."see..its just the word that makes people laugh".....damn i"m tired...sorry......Slainte! |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: C-flat Date: 13 May 04 - 02:38 AM Yes Kat, I can't get the thumb-nails to enlarge. What I can see from the smaller images looks good but I can't make out most of them. |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: GUEST,freda Date: 13 May 04 - 02:57 AM I think they're all fantastic ! |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Helen Date: 13 May 04 - 03:40 AM I like the Morris Minor best, and Lighter Shade of Ale. I could see my hubby wearing the Gin Genie for a number of reasons. Helen |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 13 May 04 - 03:46 AM Made me laugh, but I don't know whether I'd want to keep explaining them to others if Iwore one! How about offering them as designs to Rosy Neiper, it's the sort of thing her catalogue of T-shirts specialises in. RtS (My everloving bought me "Aged to Perfection", which is meant to be ironic and "Gone to seed" which isn't. She wears "Somedays I wake up miserable , somewdays I let him sleep"!) |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: JennieG Date: 13 May 04 - 04:36 AM I would be hard pressed to make a decision - I chuckled at them all. I reckon they'd be a great hit at a festival. Cheers JennieG |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 13 May 04 - 06:02 AM Santa/morris and cloud/lemmings were my favorites, but they're all a scream! Plenty of spare time, these days? Allison |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Shanghaiceltic Date: 13 May 04 - 06:36 AM Three favourites in order 1. Nelson's bud 2. Wild Rover 3. Lighter Shade of Ale I'd part with a tenner. |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 13 May 04 - 09:34 AM I think the lemming one would get widest appeal. BTW see this site:http://www.cafeshops.com/ndnpress.5358989?zoom=yes#zoom RtS |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: GUEST,KB Date: 13 May 04 - 09:57 AM They are great! Faves were: William & Nancy Morris Minor Gin Genie Lemmming Dark Settee The price I'd pay would depend on the quality of the T-shirt it was on. I think Foolestroupe's iron-on idea could be a gem though - then you could flog the transfer fairly cheap & people could please themselves as to the design/size/quality/fabric of whatever they put it on. Way less investment & probably more sales. Kris |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: SINSULL Date: 13 May 04 - 10:38 AM Blood Red Noses would fit in nicely at the Press Room. |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: JohnInKansas Date: 13 May 04 - 10:39 AM Most of the "special" shirts sold in the folk crowd in my area are printed front and back, with vaguely coordinated designs. For the ones that are likely to mystify the unlearned rabble, one side could have a less subtle version, maybe even an explaination, or at least an "It's folk, folks" as a clue. It's amazing how many times SWMBO gets stopped for an explanation of her homemade: "He's dead Jim, You get his tricorder, I'll take his wallet." The only place I've paid much attention to prices is at the festival shirt booths. At the big fests, printed Ts start at about $18 (US) for adult sizes, and run up to $34 for hooded sweats. Extra charge for XL or larger is usually about $3 to $5. At the festivals I've attended recently, most sales are in the XXXL size ranges. "Extra length" are popular, for the "girls" that claim they use them for pajamas. Given that people will likely pay more for a "commemorative" for an event they paid money to go to, you'd probably want to be a little less for "generic folk." Your cost for the shirts will probably determine what you need to charge. Good quality is, of course, recommended. One vendor who dumped a bunch of "seconds" one year at a festival pretty much killed shirt sales at that fest for the next couple of years - even though the new sellers were using good (or at least better) stuff. Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Blowzabella Date: 13 May 04 - 06:35 PM Morticia - I definitely want a William and Nancy one please - I just love it! |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: ranger1 Date: 13 May 04 - 07:59 PM Loved cockles and muscles, lemming, men of harleys, and dark settee, but all the ones that I could read (could only get thumbnail pics) and I understood were hysterical. The average price in the US would probably run $15 to $18, but being novelty items and imports, I figure up to $25 would reasonable (plus shipping). I'd buy one! |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: katlaughing Date: 14 May 04 - 06:47 PM Loved the Morris Minor, Lemming, and Dark Settee, as well as several others. Price ranges others have noted are about what I'd expect, BUT I'd want to know if you had wimmin's sizes, too, or if they'd be made out of the "tubes" they sell men and twigs. (One has to have hips to birth anything, ya know?!!)**bg** (It was apparently my firewall keeping me from looking at your bigger pix.) kat |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Morticia Date: 14 May 04 - 08:31 PM Oh I'm so glad you got to see them properly at last, Kat. |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: kendall Date: 14 May 04 - 09:08 PM I like all of them, but Chicken in a draft is my favorite. |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: sledge Date: 15 May 04 - 01:50 AM Put me down for a wild rover and william and Nancy, the chickens rather good as well, so it looks like one of them as well. Cheers Sledge |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: Helen Date: 15 May 04 - 09:34 PM I don't get a couple of the jokes: Chicken in a draft, Nelson's Bud. Maybe they need to be translated into oz-lish or maybe I just don't know the song they refer to. The Cockles & Muscles one: is that a picture of a male stripper group & if so, would there be a copyright problem with using that picture. If yes, then: could you do a mockup photo by superimposing other blokes' heads on the muscly bods? I forgot to say I also like the Whistling Pixie one. Funny! Helen |
Subject: RE: BS: Got a couple of minutes to help? From: freda underhill Date: 15 May 04 - 09:40 PM if you imposed a few well known male mudcatters heads on those muscley bodies, you'd increase the market (and the gag)! |
