Subject: BS: Gathering/Annamills w/Allan - 7/3 to 7/5 From: annamill Date: 28 Jun 04 - 07:50 PM Hi! It's been a while. Allan will arrive here in Long Branch, NJ on July 1st and will be spending the 4th with us. I spoke to him and we both feel it would be wonderful to have Mudcatters over. Our complex has a pool and barbeque area with lots of chairs and tables. Everyone is invited, as usual. Music, food, and friends, as usual. Everyone will be asked to bring stuff. Food, drinks, paper plates, instruments, voices, etc. Our town and neighboring towns have stuff going on all weekend and we can walk or drive to see fireworks. We are 1 block from a beautiful beach (like there is such a thing as an ugly beach). Please write to this thread if you are interested. We have a very small apartment and could sleep possibly 2 people. We can have a party on any of the days people come over. Just let me know which day/days you want to come so I can make plans. Unfortunately, if we have heavy rain we will have to postpone til the next day. We can only have the pool until 8pm. Sad,huh? Any questions just PM me or if it is a question or comment you feel would benefit others just post it here. Short notice I know. Here we go again. Love, Annamill |

Subject: RE: BS: Gathering/Annamills w/Allan - 7/3 to 7/5 From: Big Mick Date: 30 Jun 04 - 09:01 AM Hi sweetie, It kills me that you are moving so far away from us, and that I won't get to see you at The Getaway. Do you know what one of my favorite memories is? My very first Getaway when you and hubby and I had kitchen duty and we sang our way through it. You will love Ocean Beach. I had an apartment there once. It is central to the whole of the San Diego area. Right next to Mission Beach and just down the road from La Jolla. Do a lot of snorkeling, and give surfing a try. Love, Mick |

Subject: RE: BS: Gathering/Annamills w/Allan - 7/3 to 7/5 From: Allan C. Date: 30 Jun 04 - 09:39 PM Bert, I hadn't heard that you were back east! I had planned to try to visit you in Colorodo, if I coulda found you. I do hope you can stop by Anna's for even a short time. That last goes for anyone else who might not have other plans. I'd love to see you again or to meet you if this would be a first encounter. Seeya, Allan C. |

Subject: RE: BS: Gathering/Annamills w/Allan - 7/3 to 7/5 From: Amos Date: 30 Jun 04 - 10:13 PM Big Mick: If you just rotate about 180 degrees she'll seem all close again, Mick!! And isn't it about time you refreshed your familiarity with San Diego yourself? Wait til Annamill settles in and we can have a State Housewarming!! A |

Subject: RE: BS: Gathering/Annamills w/Allan - 7/3 to 7/5 From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 01 Jul 04 - 06:07 AM I wish I could be there, too. I'm allergic to the Jersey shore ever since my divorce, but in this case I'd make an exception! But I too have other plans for the weekend. Allan, I fully expect to hear that you regaled the gathering with a tune from your squeezebox! Anna, enjoy the move! What an adventure! Allison |

Subject: RE: BS: Gathering/Annamills w/Allan - 7/3 to 7/5 From: Micca Date: 02 Jul 04 - 06:14 AM I Wish.... I have very good memories of my previous visit (after the Getaway in 2001)with real nice folks, sitting around with Anna and Glen and music, swapping songs with Bert and eating Mexican food he had brought, and just enjoying visiting. I would love to do that again.. unfortunately the 3000 mile gap is a bit akward... Good luck with the move. |

Subject: RE: BS: Gathering/Annamills w/Allan - 7/3 to 7/5 From: SINSULL Date: 02 Jul 04 - 07:50 PM Be sure to let Bert loose in the kitchen for breakfast. I still remember the feast he produced with enough cholesterol to kill us all. Toast fried in bacon grease! Heaven.I miss you Bert. Mary |

Subject: RE: BS: Gathering/Annamills w/Allan - 7/3 to 7/5 From: Leadfingers Date: 02 Jul 04 - 08:25 PM As Micca said - The three thousand mile gap makes it a bit difficult as does the fact that I am expected in Tights Saturday Evening - Oh the tribulations of a Medieval Muso !! |

Subject: RE: BS: Gathering/Annamills w/Allan - 7/3 to 7/5 From: Allan C. Date: 04 Jul 04 - 08:41 PM Anna, Glenn, Bert and I been having an excellent visit! We had "Brontasaurus" steaks on the barbie last night and lots of ribs and unshucked corn roasting over the coals tonight. Bert and I have been trading turns at playing and singing songs. Last night Glenn even sang a couple of songs which he accompanied by playing on a Hammond organ. It's been great fun catching each other up on the gaps in our respective histories and discussing future plans. In an hour or so we will be able to view a magnificent fireworks display. Meanwhile, we'll be sipping pina coladas or perhaps a few more Lord Chesterfield Ales. BTW, we knew that with such short notice it was unlikely many could attend. However, it was well worth a go. We will send up a toast to all whose thoughts and spirits arrived here sans corpus. |

Subject: RE: BS: Gathering/Annamills w/Allan - 7/3 to 7/5 From: GUEST Date: 05 Jul 04 - 09:08 PM Well, Allan moved out about 2pm EST today and I was sorry to see him go. He will probably sleep at his campsite tonight and get an early start in the morning. Bert left shortly after Allan and headed home to PA. We had a most wonderful time together. I can't believe I had these two ALL to myself. Glenn had to work late shift and wasn't home til about 9:30 each night. We talked, and I listened to fine playing and Berts wonderful songs. Allan brought giant steaks, and Bert brought giant ribs and artichokes, tomatoes, scallions, and, oh my goodness, everything. We went down to Sandy Hook and walked along the bay. We watched fireworks from my balcony. We ate like kings of old. Glorious! It was a good visit. Thank you both. Love, Annamill |

Subject: RE: BS: Gathering/Annamills w/Allan - 7/3 to 7/5 From: GUEST Date: 05 Jul 04 - 09:53 PM Wow! We lived right there for some time. Great memories. Amazing Mexican food, of course (Consuela's) and two of my all-time favorite food memories: Steamed clams with sourdough bread to sop up the juice and butter at Quigg's, oceanside, watching the sun go down over the ocean. Thanksgiving dinner on Ocean Beach, where you could cook over a fire, but our 'turkey' was in a bottle. Don't miss the dog beach there, if they still have one! It's the perfect place for you two, I think. Glad you could spend time with Allan. Dani |

Subject: RE: BS: Gathering/Annamills w/Allan - 7/3 to 7/5 From: Bert Date: 05 Jul 04 - 10:01 PM Ahhhh! what a good time we had. Anna and Glen are perfect hosts. You guys in California don't know how lucky you are. Allan and Glen are such talented musicians. It was great to be welcomed into such company. We lazed around, sang when we liked, ate all the time, got up late, went out for breakfast. Just a perfect weekend. |

Subject: RE: BS: Gathering/Annamills w/Allan - 7/3 to 7/5 From: Dani Date: 06 Jul 04 - 12:51 PM ...sigh... We had some great times there. Two incomes, no rules, no children. Blissful. I hope I realized it then. Is Quigg's not there? I feasted on Jersey clams last week, and we fondly remembered those long-ago others. I was not so much into music then. What's the folk scene like?
