Subject: RE: BS: If You Could Meet One Mudcatter-Who? From: Charley Noble Date: 15 Aug 04 - 11:47 AM The challenge here is I tend to think of Mudcatters in clusters and mostly of those I've already met on my travels from midcoast Maine. There are those nice folks in Sydney-AU, San Francisco-CA, Portland-OR, New York City-NY, and Portsmouth-NH. Mutcat has been a great resource to me for identifying people in such faraway places who enjoy the same kind of nautical music/drinking songs/Appalacian songs and outrageous parodies of the same as I indulge in. However, Joe Offer gets special mention for his consistent efforts to keep this network going as well as being a fine person and singer. Amos, whom I've never met, gets special mention for his thoughtful posts, unusual quirky humor, occasional irate blasts and for a song collaboration or two. Naemanson gets special mention as a long time friend furthest removed to Guam, whose journal has kept our attention for over a year. And Guest Corridus, whom nobody's met, deserves mention for his exciting adventures; will he fall victim to commercial success? Only time will tell. Cheerily, Charley Noble |

He and I have been swapping some of the best from both our collections for a couple of years now. I wish I was energetic enough to get to that continent and spend about 20 years. His recitation of "Quasimodo" is pretty amazing. Could be that some day I'd actually be a bit closer to understanding what the dream time is--and is about. Bob Bolton and Deckman too. Art |
Subject: RE: BS: If You Could Meet One Mudcatter-Who? From: Rapparee Date: 15 Aug 04 - 06:39 PM I missed meeting Sorcha a year ago May when I drove out to Idaho. We were waiting at different truck stops, 15 miles apart. Sigh. Rangeroger lives north of here and didn't stop when he came through last Fall. He had to make tracks, as I did when I passed along I-90 through Smelterville last Tuesday on my way to Wenatchee. Come September I'll be on a cruise, Chicago to Warren, RI, via the Great Lakes. Maybe I'll get to meet Big Mick, et al. |

I wanna meet the one that, when we meet, wants to talk about LIFE, not the latest doings at Mudcat, and who is willing to play or sing or at least discuss MUSIC for part of the time, and who has a HUGELY interesting life outside Mudcat. I know there is one, cuz, there already is a bunch of 'em I have met, like that, and I am sure there's gotta be a few more..... ~Susan |

I was going to say I wanted to meet Rapaire and Little Hawk and Rabbi Sol because of our discussions in the threads, and Sorcha and Foolestroupe and Ebbie and Alaska Mike and a bunch of others because of the chat room, and Jimmyt because he is a cat lover. But now I think I just want to bite a bunch of you. lurk, lurk, lurk, Freightdawg |
Subject: RE: BS: If You Could Meet One Mudcatter-Who? From: GUEST,Larry K Date: 16 Aug 04 - 02:32 PM I would like to meet Amos and Little Hawk. We don't agree on much (expect Little Hawk is right on about Bob Dylan) but I find Amos very intelligent and thought out, and Little Hawk very sincere and spiritual. I respect those qualities. I suspect we agree on many issues outside of politics. I also believe we could have a good exchange of ideas on areas we disagree on. |

Subject: RE: BS: If You Could Meet One Mudcatter-Who? From: Little Hawk Date: 16 Aug 04 - 03:21 PM What Amos said. :-) Anyway, you don't have to agree on everything to have some good discussions. I can add a mean harmonica part to just about anything you choose to play, Larry. (usually play melody and harmony lines rather than the typical blues riffs, but it depends on the song) |

Subject: RE: BS: If You Could Meet One Mudcatter-Who? From: Dr. Guitar Date: 18 Aug 04 - 11:58 AM Dear Bee-dubya-ell, It really is most kind of you to mention me in this light! I must admit, over the past couple of months, my help has not been so much required as usual by the good people of Mudcat, not even by dearest Ebbie. This may, of course, be due to the current preoccupation with these new-fangled "slam book" threads although, as with most things that are "the rage" such a fashion will probably pass quickly. I am nevertheless, as always, on hand to assist my esteemed patients as and when required. In fact the lull in work on the Mudcat has even allowed me to take a short break, which is always welcome. I was able to travel to the fair city of Naples where many of the Neapolitans were having considerable trouble with their mandolins, many of which are more than 100 years old (rather like myself)! Let us hope that we shall meet up soon. I shall be most interested to examine Blondie pro bono and provide any therapy that might be necessary although I strongly suspect from her hansome appearance that none is required. Yours most sincerely, Dr. Guitar |

Also, I missed meeting you at the ABQ Folk Festival a month or so later, although you were there and I was there, so I guess I had just about decided that we were destined to be as ships that pass in the night, so to speak. But if you're going on down to T or C on the 15th for the old time fiddlers big event (BIG event) I'll try to meet you and your wife there. Just give a holler! |
