Subject: RE: Info Req: Stan Rogers songbook From: GUEST Date: 01 May 13 - 10:43 PM Hi breezy, I was wondering if you, or anyone on this thread has the chords to Stan's "California" I'd like to play the song and I'd like to get it right. Thanks |
Subject: RE: Info Req: Stan Rogers songbook From: breezy Date: 12 Jan 11 - 05:44 AM Got mine on a trip to Ottawa some time back, so there ! Also got 'Picking Sooty Blackberries' an anthology of songs by the late Keith Marsden, who founded Cockersdale That would make for interesting comparisons. Keith possessed more wit methinks So did Einnor get one |
Subject: RE: Info Req: Stan Rogers songbook From: GUEST,Mooseguy Date: 11 Jan 11 - 08:40 PM I bought mine from Stan, at a concert in London ON, Canada, and he was kind enough to sign it for me. It is an awesome book as he was an awesome songwriter/performer. |
Subject: RE: Of Stan Rogers songs From: Ted from Australia Date: 22 Nov 98 - 09:06 AM Why not order it from Stans official page (where i got mine) http://www.summerfolk.org/sffc.html Regards Ted |
Subject: RE: Of Stan Rogers songs From: Tim Jaques tjaques@netcom.ca Date: 21 Nov 98 - 01:08 PM Many of the larger CD shops also sell music books. I think Back Porch has it at http://www.bpm.on.ca

Subject: RE: Of Stan Rogers songs From: Bill Cameron Date: 20 Nov 98 - 04:42 PM Knowing how these things go, I'm sure Elderly would ship a Canadian songbook to Canada...but we'd pay for it in US dollars and the customs duty on top of that!!! It's a great book though. It was published by OFC Publications (Ottawa Folklore Centre). Among other obvious virtues, it shows lots of tasty variations of DADGAD chords--I cut my dad-gad teeth (fingers) on it, so to speak--Stan was one of the first North American s-s's to use that tuning a lot. Subject: RE: Of Stan Rogers songs From: Mo Date: 20 Nov 98 - 05:30 AM It's the kind of thing which, if he were alive, Stan would be writing songs about - don't you think? Mo |
Subject: RE: Of Stan Rogers songs From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 19 Nov 98 - 08:09 PM Don, We have a saying here "It's like the shoe maker's daughter going without shoes." Roger in Baltimore |
Subject: RE: Of Stan Rogers songs From: Dan Calder Date: 19 Nov 98 - 08:03 PM Go to this site: http://www.summerfolk.org/sffc.html You can get all the details of the book, plus ordering instructions. I bought the book in '93, and it cost me $25.40 with the shipping. Not sure what the total would be now. That was before I had Internet access. Now you can get lots of the tunes for free. Enjoy, Dan |
Subject: RE: Of Stan Rogers songs From: BK Date: 19 Nov 98 - 07:19 PM Don; I basically think the world is strange, at best, & it would fit if they didn't. However, Elderly is usually known to be very reliable & I'm sure they will ship to Canada. It is still goofy to have to order a quintessentially Canadian thing from the US... The world IS strange! Cheers, BK |
Subject: RE: Of Stan Rogers songs From: DonMeixner Date: 19 Nov 98 - 07:00 PM Roger, Stan was Canadian, The book is printed in Canada. Most of the songs are Canadian. Would the humour and irony be wild if Elderly WOULN'T ship to Canada? Don |
Subject: RE: Of Stan Rogers songs From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 19 Nov 98 - 06:33 PM Einnor, I searched through Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble and could not locate the book. If they had it, you could support the Mudcat by purchasing it through the "Support the Mudcat" icon on the Main Forum page. However, Elderly Instruments does have the book. They are at elderly.com or you can click here to go right to the catalog listing. Elderly is very reliable and I suspect they will mail to Canada. Roger in Baltimore |
Subject: RE: Of Stan Rogers songs From: DonMeixner Date: 19 Nov 98 - 06:32 PM Put your search engine to the Stan Rogers Page. Great song book. Look for the CDs Home In Halifax and From Fresh Water. These are my favorites. Home... is a concert album which is a best of recording that will give you a great cross the board mix. Don. |
Subject: RE: Of Stan Rogers songs From: Bob Landry Date: 19 Nov 98 - 02:25 PM Great book, it has most of the tunes from a number of Stan Roger's albums. I picked up my copy at Mr. Entertainment (they have several locations in Edmonton). I don't know if they're in Vancouver. I'll look at my copy tonight and get details on the publisher. Bob |
Subject: Of Stan Rogers songs From: Einnor Date: 19 Nov 98 - 01:42 PM I made it to Vancouver and got the music stuff I wanted. While I was there I listened to a performer in the Sky Train halls play some Stan Rogers songs. I rewarded him well and told him I would love to be able to play some of Stan's songs myself. He said there is abook of Stan's music out there. Does anybody know how I could aquire a copy ? |
