Subject: RE: BS: Blunket gone Yaaay From: GUEST,smiler Date: 15 Dec 04 - 02:20 PM Its laughable why he resigned. A silly visa irregularity. Blunkett and the rest of the UK shabby government should be hauled up before a war crimes tribunal for carrying out and being accomplice to mass murder in an illegally waged war. |

Subject: RE: BS: Blunket gone Yaaay From: John J Date: 15 Dec 04 - 06:55 PM I didn't much care for the bloke....far too self-rightious and authoritarian for my liking, but for heavens sake, what a bloody silly and trivial reason to have to resign. There are serious crimes that this and previous governments (left and right wing) have commited that should have caused the guilty parties to resign, if not face prosecution. The downright lie regarding WMD for starters. John |

Subject: RE: BS: Blunket gone Yaaay From: Cllr Date: 15 Dec 04 - 07:10 PM OK here is what is going on the guy has used this as a giant advertising campaign for his book just out in time for christmas. he is guilty of misusing his position and is saying that he isnt but is resigning because he is honerable. The media is saying he resigned because he has lost support because he insulted cabimet members in his book. This means that as soon as the cabinet forgive him he can return to a senior position and he will have bypassed the misuse of position issue. Bottom line NO real change on a permenent basis but he has sold a lot more books. Cllr |

Now, the only question is, Which one of them next? Aiming for the whole lot all at once might be a bit ambitious for now. Bunnahabhain |

Subject: RE: BS: Blunket gone Yaaay From: Folkiedave Date: 16 Dec 04 - 05:08 PM Some thoughts on Dave's Demise or as it is known here in Sheffield "Resigning to spend more time with someone else's family". He has constantly been given credit for the Socialist Republic of S. Yorkshire and its cheap bus fares policy in Sheffield. Cobblers. The low cost bus fares was a policy set up by the South Yorkshire County Council in 1974 and applied equally across South Yorkshire the main towns of which were Rotherham Doncaster and Barnsley. Blunkett became Leader of Sheffield Council in 1979. As for flying the Red Flag over the Town Hall, the local hierarchy in the Labour Party fought tooth and nail to stop this happening. Don't let the facts spoil a good story. (folkiedave) Dave Eyre |
