Subject: RE: BS: The 1970s were Carp From: PoppaGator Date: 31 Dec 04 - 12:17 PM I was completely turned off by mainstream American pop culture when the 60s ended in about 1973 -- but I found a wonderful secret little local culture in New Orleans, where the 1970s saw the rediscovery of Professor Longhair, the founding of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the establishment of Tipitina's, the emergence of the Dirty Dozen and a new brass-band tradition, and a whole lot of other great stuff. |
