Thank you, Bill!!! ROTFLMAO! Those are simply the most spot-on, superb, incredible reviews of Shatner songs I have ever read. This guy understands the unique majesty, the grandeur, and the terrifying awe and wonder that IS Bill Shatner...unleashed!

The unexpurgated review...an overall look at Shatner's gift to recorded music, taken off the website:

Why I like this album (Shatner's "The Transformed Man" - 1968)

Although he now claims otherwise, I believe the Transformed Man album was released in total po-faced seriousness. Bill really believed he was a true renaissance man at the very height of his powers, that he was creating art. This is what makes the album so delicious - you could just imagine Bill sitting around listening to the finished cut, getting all hyped up while the record company execs who'd commissioned it just tried to keep their jaws off the floor and pander to his massive ego sufficiently in order to get something, anything out that could cash in on the lucrative Star Trek angle. Plus, it was the seventies, and anything went then.
(But really, that must have been a great moment when the powers that be got to hear that record for the first time. The quintessential "What the fuck have we done?" moment. And they go "What will we do with this?" And they release it anyway, because people will buy any old crap!)
But make no mistake about it - it takes talent to be that bad. Shatner was a great Captain Kirk. He looked the part - barking out orders brusquely, not showing much emotion (which was just right for the part - he was captain of a starship and couldn't afford to appear weak in front of his crew - unlike Jean-Luc "More tea vicar?" Freaking Picard!). You could believe he was a captain. Sure he talked in a bizarre random emphasis type way - but hell, he was from the future - people all talk like that in the future. But after he moved onto other parts, it soon transpired that this, in fact, was his only acting style. And, incredibly, his singing style too. You would get booed off the Karaoke stage if you tried to pull a stunt like that, but he somehow pulls it off. It's not bad - it's fucking mega-boss bad. And that's why it's so good.

"99% of the Star Trek fans that I have met over the years could care less about all of the items that you mentioned"

Ron, are you aware that 89.6% of people who use statistics in an argument make them up as they go along?

And 92.3% of those people slant the made-up statistics to favour their own prejudices!

And, the remaining 7.7% don't know WHAT they think 96.4% of the time.

I can't remember the show in which Shatner playe a cop (Hooker, Booker, somethin' like that). Anyway, I saw three episodes or so and decided to call it a night. (It was on when Hil Street Blues was still being shown.) HSB often had the phrase 'scumbag' in it. I guess that Shatner was a fan of HSB, because in one of the episodes of his shows he trampled a line: "Put down the gun you dirty (then a pause for a second while he shook his head and--as far as I could tell-- thought hard about how he was going to convey the 'feeling' of scumbag yet not say it on his 'family' police show: To repeat, "Put down the gun you dirty . . . . . . . . BAG!"

Pure Shatner, and some of you folks think he can't act?

Oh, he can act alright.

My favorite Shatner performance: him taking a hairy in that Twilight Zone episode with the gremlin tearing apart the airplane wing.

They ought to have given him the SHAFT before he took the Globe. The Globe at least matches his body style.

That fat little round man with the pig eyes and body. Some Hollywood idol! What's with that horrid CD of his? Shivers! Well, I guess if you can get a "Hung for Christmas" album by that American Idle Asian nitwit you can expect to have Shatner hanging around "musically" after the Holidays. What next, Shatner doing Rap in Drag? How about a Bikini Beach Party Movie with Billy in a Speedo with his tummie roll a-hangin over the "wasteband".

Shatner did look drunk or drugged on GG night. At least he got a hair implant or takes Rogaine and got rid of that "tooip toopay harepiece". Did I mention his speech was also slurred on Globe night?

Sorry to beelytle your heelro and idle Lytel Squawk.

"Bikini Beach Party: Billy in a Speedo"

Guest,Shatner-hater: YOU ARE A GENIUS. What a title for a record-breaking (not one of Bill's) B movie that doesn't need Elvis (whom rumour has it is either dead and coming back or alive and coming back). The title says it ALL. The Speedo SHOWS it all. What's left? Only the world of xxxxx-rated cinema. To go where no man has gone before (snicker snicker).

William Shatner does Elton John's Rocketman.

A classic in classic Shatner style.

(just in case you wondered where Stewie got his rendition)

*thoughtfully*

So what I have gleaned from this thread is...

Shatner has become a Globetrotter.

*nods* Mm-hm. Multi-talented man.

Will he have to get a 'Fro toupee' now?

Shatner has a way of putting a whole new twist on things. He sweeps away the old and brings in the new. I really can't wait till he goes into women's fashion design...
