Gung Hey Fot Choy!! (my mandarin leaves much to be desired) Happy Lunar New Year! Everybody remember to support your local Asian eatery & don't forget to tell them "Happy New Year!"
A year or two back, I went with some family members to my nephew's fav "Chinese" eatery, and told them "Gung Hey Fot Choy!" They proceeded to bring me presents of candy, a little red envelope of $$, and a teenie porcelain Buddah. Then they told us all about the activities going on back home in Hong Kong.

We celebrated early with two fantastic meals at the chinese restaurant in Portaferry - their Sweet Ginger Chicken was incredible and I may have to write to them for the recipe!

My 6.5 yr. old twin grandsons called me tonight to wish me happy Chinese New Year and they said it in Chinese! It was so neat. They wore red shirts to school with dragons on them; made dragons in school; and, their teacher taught them a poem about the new year. They also told me all about it being the year of the rooster. Sounds as though they had a wonderful day.
