Bad, WYSusan, bad...

I'd never use a snake, especially a python, fir cleaning a toilet...

Now fir "snakin" drains? That's a different story... But never with pythons. They are cool and purdy and wouldn't hurt a flea... Mouse or rat? Differnt story, Part 2...

Yup, I like a copperhead fir snaking drains. All ya gotta do is get you a copperhead, thrown him the toidy and flush... He'll sho nuff get the job done... Need teeth and pythons ain't got 'um... But they make nice pets though they can't be taught to fetch the newspaper...

And lastly? .....

Phew... Susu's hubby accused me of being Karl Rove today... LH last month suggested I might be DougR... Like what next?

LOL! I'd rather be accused of being the snake than being Karl Rove.

Re critters in the toilet- years ago I trained myself to lower the lid onto a toilet after each use. I tell other people that it's because the fancy cover that we like to put on can be seen to match the rugs on the floor- but I admit I first started closing the lid after reading a couple of accounts of rats/squirrels/mice being discovered gaily swimming about. With the lid closed I figure I'll have some warning.

I found a dead rat in a toilet once, having returned to my cabin from a 3 week trip. His last drink turned out to be more thirst-quenching than he had counted on...

Well, in the bush it's easy. You just sit on a tree limb and WHOOSH! Or you squat on the ground. Nobody cares.

In a city it's not so easy, cos there ain't many places left vacant and natural, so you gotta use toilets. I prefer the modern flush kind.

The worst toilet I EVER seen was on a Greek merchant ship that took passengers and freight across the Aegean. You hadda grab a rope and swing out over a hole in the lower deck. There was no safe way to approach the friggin' hole without the rope or you would slide in.   The hole led into a dark pit that stank like the cesspool of hell. You don't wanta think about falling in there. No sir. For a chimp, it's easy to use a rope, but it's kind of hard on your mind havin' to do your thing while swinging back and forth over the hole as the ship lurches from wave to wave. You wanna finish as fast as possible. Now, the other main problem was this. The rope had got pretty messy from previous users, so the tendency was for each subsequent user to jump a bit higher up...which would get the rope messier a bit higher up...you get the picture. This had been happening for, I guess, years. You hadda be a good jumper to get past the bad part. The sailors on that ship had legs of iron, lemme tell ya. It wasn't no problem for me, but I hadda pity the poor human bozos who were passengers on that trip. There were some that just held it in for the whole trip rather than use "the rope".

Gah! I was supposed to go to bed but instead I spent the last twenty minutes looking at pictures of toilets! I'm losing my mind.

The worst places for snakes in toilets are supposedly the Pacific islands that have been infested with the invasive brown tree snake. They drop from trees onto rooftops and crawl down vent-pipes into toilets. A peek into the bowl before sitting is considered a good idea since their bites are moderately venomous.

I can see them fine, Little Hawk. Maybe your eyes are going (or your firewall has the good sense to block them).

Who was the idjit what taught brucie how to make blue clickies, anyway? The guy has gone nuts with the things! (but that was a great link to the toilets of the world--I've sent it on to a couple of friends).

Yes, yes, yes, 42... LH has been having his little late winter dementia syndrome and my poor ol' hillbilly seff has taken a beatin'.... Last month he accuserated me of being DougR and now this??? I think the boy needs to get on the airplane and do his anual pilgrimage to wherever it is that he goes where the sun is warm, the people friendly and where he can get down to some real groovin' with rocks...

Hence, I always follow the advice given in song, and 'have a shufti before I have a pee'...

There is a story that has passed into folklore and urban legend about a certain Morris dancer who, whilst seated for a 'performance' one night, felt a whiffling breeze around his nethers, got up, looked down and found a large rat in the bowl. This incident was later imortalised in tune form by Gas Mark 5, on their album 'Guizers'.

Said toilet was later destroyed in an incident with a rat, a 12bore shotgun and a large amount of alcohol.

It is true, I know the Morris Dancer involved....

Well, the comment comes a little late but it may be useful anyway. I get the same "stolen from funlol" message, but if you hover your mouse over the link it tells you the address in the bottom left corner, and then if you type it in yourself it works. Or at least thats how it works for me. I'm using mozilla firefox. Hope that helps.
