Subject: Guy Clark is coming to Stan Rogers From: Den Date: 14 Apr 05 - 07:30 PM I can't believe it myself but Guy is coming to the Stan Rogers festival in Canso Nova scotia this Summer. I will be there too. Den |
Subject: RE: Guy Clark is coming to Stan Rogers From: GUEST Date: 14 Apr 05 - 08:12 PM Who is Guy Clark |
Subject: RE: Guy Clark is coming to Stan Rogers From: Midchuck Date: 14 Apr 05 - 08:36 PM I can't - quite - say that Guy Clark is to the US what Stan was to Canada - but he comes closer than anyone except maybe Tom Russell - in my singular and somewhat perverse opinion, of course. Peter. |
Subject: RE: Guy Clark is coming to Stan Rogers From: GUEST,Wesley S Date: 14 Apr 05 - 09:23 PM Guy Clark is a truly gifted songwriter from Texas. However - he has been known to imbibe a few before a show - and in my opinion he gives a better show sober than not sober. Reguardless - he has written an amazing amount of very high quality songs. When he's good he's very good. Don't miss him. |
Subject: RE: Guy Clark is coming to Stan Rogers From: Francy Date: 14 Apr 05 - 10:01 PM I have seen Guy Clark 3 times and he was great everytime.....Nothing that he did showed any signs of drinking....I wish people wouldn't make satements about performers unless they know for sure........Herbert Spencer was right when he said contempt prio ro investigation.....Statemtns like that tend to hang around unnecessarily....Frank of Toledo |
Subject: RE: Guy Clark is coming to Stan Rogers From: Willie-O Date: 15 Apr 05 - 09:43 PM After Stan Rogers died I recall expressing the opinion several times that Guy Clark is the greatest living English language songwriter. I don't have any inclination to back off from that opinion. I guess I'm a better performer sober than not too, but what the hell, so are most people. Whatever gets you through the night. Man I'm tempted to get a ticket to Canso. Wonder if trains still go there. W-O |
Subject: RE: Guy Clark is coming to Stan Rogers From: Beer Date: 15 Apr 05 - 10:29 PM You mean the Nova Scotia Limited? You folks are some lucky to get him. you won't be sorry. I really should also grab that train. Beer |
Subject: RE: Guy Clark is coming to Stan Rogers From: Francy Date: 15 Apr 05 - 11:46 PM I put the works of Guy Clark right alongside the works of Townes van Zandt and Tom Russell. He is well worth the trip and you won't be disappointed......Frank of Toledo |

Subject: RE: Guy Clark is coming to Stan Rogers From: Sandy Mc Lean Date: 16 Apr 05 - 06:25 PM Sorry Willie-o but there is no train to Canso. (never was) . They started to build a line to Guysborough many years ago but it was never finished, and only freights run from Truro to Cape Breton , so Truro or Halifax is as close as you can get by rail. |
Subject: RE: Guy Clark is coming to Stan Rogers From: 8ch(pl) Date: 16 Apr 05 - 06:57 PM Stan Rogers "The Guysborough Train" great song. |
Subject: RE: Guy Clark is coming to Stan Rogers From: Sandy Mc Lean Date: 17 Apr 05 - 08:25 AM I was wondering how long it would take for someone to pick up on that. 8ch(pl) wins ! :-} The pillars for the trestle over the Salmon River still stand near Guysborough. Even if you could take that train you would still have to get another 25 or 30 miles to find Canso. |
