What do you normally carry around in your pockets?

I usually have a rock of some type...most likely malachite and whatever else strikes me as interesting that day, chapstick or lipstick depending on my mood.

How about you?

mobile phone, small change (never carry a change purse), bus pass, work pass... sometimes a penknife.

Never any icecream or lollies though, and lipbalm gets all warm and sticky in there.

Lint. A coin purse. A pocket knife (size varies). Carmex. Keys. Various other things, depending on where I am and what I'm doing. My wallet in my hip pocket.

An amorphous lump of paper pulp that may have been identifiable before it went through the washing machine. It was probably either a receipt for an inconsequential purchase or a grocery list, but I always worry that it might have been something important.

Not much... wallet in left back pocket... hankie in right back... I have a WW2 British MKVII gas-mask bag as a 'man purse' for carrying my darts, a journal, smokes, zippo, Leatherman Multi-tool, various keys, back-up-popcorn-bag, and what ever else I might need to pack around with me... (Occasionaly MD player and a few disks, maybe a digital camera)

I have a rock. Also car keys, loose change, cash, knife.
I carry my smoking dope in a tanned bovine codsack dangling from my belt...but, wait...that was a few decades ago...nevermind.

guitar picks, lip armor is the brand of lip balm in there right now,
rubber gloves, bandana, mini-leather-person tool, hair rubber bands.
Sometimes car keys, but the caribiner is a bit large to fit IN my pocket so i clip it on my belt loop. It has keys to mailbox, vehicle, fire station, and also a flashlight on it. In my jacket pocket there is some spare change, anhd often adog treat as i am in training--i mean my dog is.

Nothing. All the crap I used to carry around in my pockets always wore holes in them long before the pants were worn out, so now I carry it all in a bum bag.

It's much more convenient, but I don't much like the bum bag itself, so I'm looking for a sporran now. I'm not Scottish or anything, I just like the idea of using a sporran instead of a bum bag.

Eleven keys on chain with car lock fob, 88 cents in change, jacknife, comb, ballpoint, handkerchief, little round pill holder. Billfold goes in the shirt or jacket pocket now if it fits, as sitting on it messes with my hip and leg.

My tiniest ocarina, always. (wonder if that counts as a lucky charm for that thread, spare change, Zippo, no cigs since I ditched em, pocket knife, Keys are clipped to a belt loop, wallet in the right rear pocket. Does 2 pair of needle nose pliers and a pair of lineman's snips in a belt holster count? Like Clinton, I carry a man purse, mine is an Ancient us army surplus canvas bag, with a couple of small notebooksand a couple of pens, maybe a cd player and cd's, formally cigarettes, a water bottle and an assortment of little metal rings in 35mm film cans for working on chainmail jewellry when things get slow, hence the pliers from above.

I've usually got a mini-Leatherman on my key caribiner, and a full-sized one (with a two-headed screwdriver and a mini-Mag flashlight w/headband) in a pouch in my briefcase.

(I say usually because I'm flying a couple hours and they confiscate mini-Leatherman tools as deadly weapons.)

Amazing how many of you carry rocks in your pockets. I have my rock in my shoulder pack. (I'm glad to see I'm not the only one!)

I agree with the remark about stuff in your pockets wearing out your pockets faster than the rest of the pants. I have streamlined the whole operation so I carry the essentials in my Eagle "fling" one-strapped shoulder pack. Frees up my pockets some. (If that link doesn't keep working, the site is http://www.travelcountry.com . I looked for a long time before I found this small, tough, well-designed pack.)

In my left pocket now I carry my house and post office keys (no work keys--they're on a separate ring in my pack--the size of a couple of those keys would cause serious groin injury if they're tangled in a pocket). In my right pocket I carry a folded linen handkerchief and my truck key and opener. I separated the keys when I found it too easy for the wad to set off the red button of my truck alarm when I dropped my pants in the bathroom. My Old Timer pocket knife doesn't ride in that pocket for the same reason. I carry it in my back pocket (though I carry it less now after 9-11 because for a while I was afraid that I'd lose it at some checkpoint during the day).

How many of the ladies STILL have that something in your pocket that belongs upon your face-a Great Big Brownie Smile?

I had four sisters and later a daughter and some stepdaughters that were Brownies and sang that song. I still dread it!

Definately Folk by now, though!

I had safety pins in my pocket yesterday (not sure why).

At work I usually had two ballpoint pens, one ultrafine Sharpie, my pain-assesment slide rule, a cheap pendant-watch (I hate wrist-watches), and that stupid packet of index cards that I had to have signed whenever I did something for my training (ha! no more! new job, here I come!). And a lot of Post-Its. I lived by Post-Its.

Always have a pocket knife, even when I'm swimming, I feel naked without it. My current favourite is a Spiderco lockback. Also have a Fred Kelly thumbpick, Dunlop flatpicks, hair elastics, spare change like a couple of loonies or a toonie or two, keys with a Goderich Celtic Festival key fob containing emergency picks and a pay phone quarter, often my rings and bracelet if I'm working in the yard or shop, tools... Rarely carry my wallet as it rarely has more than moths in it anyway. Also on my person will be a Gerber multitool pliers, sometimes a discman (just got an MP3 player but haven't used it yet), and if I'm away maybe a ruck sack, courier bag, or sling sack with drinks, reading material, cds, pencil, glasses, another knife, whistle, hat, screwdriver, plastic bags for the dog's business...

The eternal Boy Scout?

Peace, Mooh.
