Subject: Mooh's Mother - Rest In Peace From: Mooh Date: 09 May 05 - 10:32 AM Yesterday, Mother's Day, my mother left this life for the next. She will be missed for her humour and wisdom, her creativity and faith, her kindness and mercy, but mostly for her love. Some of you may know Dorothy Crocker through her abundant work for the Girl Guides of Canada, and the Anglican Church of Canada. She had lurked at the Mudcat in the early years, having discovered here an interest in hymns, but as far as I know she didn't post here. After weeks suffering from the effects of a broken hip and a stroke, she spent yesterday drifting in and out of sleep, listening to CBC radio, then to an hour or so of me playing hymns on guitar as she always liked to hear. The doctor had suggested she'd last another day or two, and true to form she didn't wait around. My sisters, one daughter and I were there to hold her as she died. God will look after her, the rest of us have each other. Thank you for your hopes, prayers, and concern. Peace and Love, Mooh. |

Subject: RE: Mooh's Mother - Rest In Peace From: sixtieschick Date: 09 May 05 - 12:56 PM Condolences to you and your family. It's a tough one for those left behind no matter how timely and no matter how auspicious the circumstances surrounding the death. I read somewhere that someone's death is like a ship sailing out to sea and disappearing over the horizon. While the people on shore are waving good-bye, saying "she is going away," there is another group at another port joyously hailing her arrival, saying "here she comes!" Miriam |

Subject: RE: Mooh's Mother - Rest In Peace From: Cruiser Date: 09 May 05 - 01:21 PM This reminded me of the beautiful lyrical song by Hank Williams 'I Just Told Mama Goodbye' about the death of a mother on Mother's Day. I've Just Told Mama goodbye Recorded by hank williams, sr. Words and music by curley kinsey and sunshine slim sweet [d] each year on [a7] mother's [d] day The rose i [g] wore was [d] red But [g] today i'm saying [d] my first prayer Mama's lying on her [a7] dying [d] bed. [d] i've just told [a7] mama good-[d] bye Mother's day has [g] turned to [d] night Like the [g] flowers in may, she [d] withered away And my red rose is [a7] turning [d] white. This is the dreaded hour We all must face someday Yet there's consolation in my heart She will bloom in the master's bouquet. Her time has come to go And there's nothing i can do Only hold her hand and say goodbye Mama's day with her children is through. I've just told mama goodbye And knelt beside her bed I heard her say, "i'll meet you someday, Where the white roses turn to red." |

Subject: RE: Mooh's Mother - Rest In Peace From: Big Mick Date: 09 May 05 - 10:52 PM No one knows the number of days they get, but we each craft our own obituary through our actions. I read the opening post by you, Good Son, and I want to go out and sing a song of celebration of this woman. To have created and raised one whose love shines as yours does says that this is a wonderful woman. It's always about the coming and the going, and the trip in between. This good woman obviously travelled well. God be good to her. And Mooh, I am so glad you are here to share this with us. I know that the loss is profound, but somehow I think you and your family will get through the darkness and sing this woman's song. Mick |

Subject: RE: Mooh's Mother - Rest In Peace From: open mike Date: 10 May 05 - 01:47 AM We used to have a tradition in church on mother's day which is always on a sunday, where you wore a flower (rose, or carnation) indicating, as the song says, whether or not your mother was alive...red for living, white for if your mother has passed away. I am another white flower person, too. |

I will remember you all on Saturday when I read psalm 90. "So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom". Peace and Love, Mooh. |
