Like, what's going on here anyway... I used to thing of myself as a liberal (okay, maybe progressive) but these days I'm thinkin' more like a Nixon (oh, the horrors) Republican....

Lets face it, Bush and his crew are extremits who don't give a danged about deficits 'er big intrusive government 'er warrin' with anyone they want to war with???? Hey, back long time ago in a distant gallexy this was like liberalism?????

What has happened???

And question 2, why do so many folks who support these things think of themselves as conservatives????

The thing about when yer brainwashed, you don't even notice it. It takes a severe reality adjustment to even start the ole brain ticking over again. I think that is starting to happen a bit more now than it was last November as folks notice the consequences of various choices.

In Australia the 'Liberal Party' went thru a mostly unnoticed metamorphosis - Most of them went way over to the right and said "there's more of us than there is of you, so we're keeping the name 'Liberal Party'" - that's why the Democrats were formed - Party Slogan "We're here to keep the bastards honest!"

A person much more famous than me once said many years ago "The last thing the US needs is TWO Republican Parties!"

That's the problem with first past the post voting systems: the organisations keep rolling on, and there's no way to reform them by having other parties grow up and replace them, forcing the now obsolete parties to either expire or work on genuine reform.

It seems we have a new Party, the Republicrats. The way out of this nasty mess is for liberals to assert themselves and say hey if the Dems don't speak for us any more than they don't need our votes.

Now the questions becomes again, does anyone really believe our votes count since we've given them away to machines?

As to Hillary and the gang who would like to increase troop strength in Iraq, the definition for insanity is doing the same thing over and over that doesn't work.

The War is been won by the opposition. They've succeeded in creating an atmosphere for fear and repression here in theStates spearheaded by the GOP leaders. Civil Rights are going South.
Environment is becoming more and more polluted. Now they've decided to change the language to "struggle against extremism" instead of "war on terror". Problem. They are the extremists they are struggling against. The new words don't make the invasion go away.
