The "where do Mudcatters live" thread reminded me that many of us who stay in one place for a long time encounter the encroaching mob. Eventually, what we truly love about a place is drowned out in one way or the other. It seems a common thread in folk music (singer/songwriter branch). What are your favorites of the genre?

Two that come to mind for me are The OLD ROSE AND CROWN by Ian Robb and THE OLD TRAIL by Steve Gillette and Charles John Quarto.

Enjoy the songs!!!

Don Williams did a nice job on "The Old Trail" as well as Steve's "River Song". And, of course, Steve does 'em best.

Ian's recording of "Old Rose & Crown" is just great too.

The @nostalgia category has some nifty songs on that subject, Barry. One that came to mind first for me was COMING OF THE ROADS, which has the title listed as "Roads" in the database. I suppose the best-known recording of the song is by Judy collins. Peter, Paul & Mary did a rather nice job on it (in the plural) on their 1990 album, Flowers and Stones.

Craig Johnson's "Goodbye to the Lowlands" (and the green fields of home). Jerry Rasmussen's "Milwaukee/St.Paul."
