Please don't try viewing that thread all at once. On the Forum Menu, you'll notice that there is a "number of messages" entry for each thread. On long threads, that number becomes a blue clickable link - click on that link and the thread will load in segments. If you click on the "d" link after the number, it will load the thread in descending segments, with the newest message on top.

Threads like that one and people trying to access the whole thing (or even the latest "page" of it) that slow things down around here.

Not that much. I have broadband, and when I hot the "d" button the MOAB pops up in less than ten seconds. IT is the nature of the MOAB to be ongoing so the real zone of interest is just the immediate boundary layer going into the future. No reason one 50-post page should take much longer than another.

Cluin, those are fighting words! It doesn't slow Mudcat down any more than any other thread around here.

Just click on the number (to the right of the name of the thread) and then go to the last page, if loading from the "d" seems a little slow (though that will also only take you to the last 50 messages). And if you can't wait for it to load, relax, it was Little Hawk who scored it, wearing his Willam Shatner hat.

We're on a new tack now over at MOAB, so don't go in anywhere expecting it to be the same thing discussed over and over. Dip into a few pages and enjoy the repartee that quality BS engenders.

Server's gotta search through the MB database and compile the last page worth of posts in a thread. When the thread is that long, the process takes longer. Multiply that by a large number of people trying to access the same process and gou've got slowdown, people. Right here in River City.
