Subject: Lyr Req: Lone Ranger - Barbershop Quartet From: GUEST Date: 11 Dec 05 - 02:21 PM I am trying to find the lyrics of a song called something like Lone Ranger (theme). It is not the one which you can easily google (by Quantum Jump). The version I'm thinking of is (also) song by The Barbershop Quartet. Can anyone help me? |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Lone Ranger - Barbershop Quartet From: Peace Date: 11 Dec 05 - 02:26 PM The theme was the William Tell Overture. Are you saying that someone put words to that? |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Lone Ranger - Barbershop Quartet From: GUEST Date: 11 Dec 05 - 02:39 PM Yes! And it just sounds great. They sing so fast that I can't understand the words. (I'm not a native speaker) |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Lone Ranger - Barbershop Quartet From: Peace Date: 11 Dec 05 - 03:02 PM OK. That's a place to start. Thanks, GUEST. And for someone who's not a native speaker, your written English is great. I will go look, as will others who like a challenge. |

He may be able to direct to the lyrics. It might be worth your while to try e-mailing the Gas House Gang directly. I am not finding the lyrics anywhere. This could take a few days. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Lone Ranger - Barbershop Quartet From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 13 Dec 05 - 07:32 PM The old William Tell TV show of the '60's starring Conrad Phillips had a theme song set to the William Tell Overture. Comeaaway, come away with William Tell, Come Away to the land he loved so well, What a day, what a day when the apple fell For Tell and Switzerland. Seamus |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Lone Ranger - Barbershop Quartet From: Snuffy Date: 14 Dec 05 - 08:56 AM And then there's Les Barker's William Patel Overture with a chorus of: Poppadom, poppadom, poppadom, dom, dom, Poppadom, poppadom, poppadom, dom, dom, Poppadom, poppadom, poppadom, dom, dom, Poppa-dom, poppadom, dom, dom. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Lone Ranger - Barbershop Quartet From: JohnInKansas Date: 14 Dec 05 - 10:33 AM The "blanket organization" for Barbershop in the US (and perhaps some places elsewhere) is the "SPEBSQSA" (Society for the Preservation of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America). They do have a web site, and links there offer at least a few downloadable sheet music samples. Perhaps if normal search methods don't come up with something, a visit to their site may suggest additional places to look. Most BS groups (quartet and otherwise) include at least a few novelty songs, and this sounds like one that would be popular(?). John |

(The "Sweet Adelines Intl" is the "feminine" wing of SPEB.) John |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Lone Ranger - Barbershop Quartet From: GUEST,Jan Date: 24 Dec 05 - 08:24 PM I have heard Hale and Pace doing a rendition of this song. I believe the first line goes, "poppadom poppadom poppadom pom pom" And they do other lines like, "middle eye middle eye middle eye, tie tie" and "knee knee knee knee knee knee knee knee" And they use lots of props and actions. I have been trying to find it for ages. It's sooo funny. Anyone know where to get it??? |
