Subject: Ming Campbell -Bush's Scottish Apologist
From: GUEST,Eduardo

I see the dreadful Scots MP Ming Campbell is trying to become Leader of the British Liberal Party following the sad demise of Charles Kennedy under a barrage of whisky bottles.

Ming is the kind of right-wing George Bush apologist that the British Liberal Party and Britain in general can well do without.

How on earth can you have a political Leader who is named after a Chinese dynasty?

Don't vote for him guys.

And don't vote for the other guy with the Germanic name (Chris Hun) either. Stick with a good ole-fashioned true British hero like Simon Hughes or the little bald chappie from posh Winchester, Markie Oaten.

In the US a legislator lamented the absence of 'good American names' in the race. His comments were greeted with scorn.

Going to the Polls and only seeing a list of names and making your choice based on the 'Name' you like!!...well how shallow can you get..oops forget I asked that. No reply required:)

It's only members of the party that can vote in this 'election': so there's only about 1 person who looks at mudcat is eligable to vote for Menzies (pronounced Ming-es for some unknown reason) or any of the other 4 or more contenders.

Troll indeed!

Why is it not funny when it's Featherstonhaugh,Cholmondely or Mainwaring? Could Guest Eduardo be racist?

The Scottish name spelled "Menzies" is properly pronounced "Mingus" north of the border. Just ask the staff in Menzies bookshop in Edinburgh. Which has no bearing whatsoever on his fitness or otherwise for whatever he may or may not be standing for.

Don't feed the trolls (Damn!!)

Andrew
(Properly pronounced "what's yours?")

Mingus/ Menzies: it's the Middle English letter 'yogh', that looked a bit like a lower-case z, but is actually between a G and a Y in pronunciation (rather Swedish in fact).

Yogh

You also get it in names like Dalziel (D'yell).

Makes no difference to how I vote. I won't be voting Liberal in the near future (though I did at the last election).

Classic example of how you should let things go

Menzies - Mingus/Minges - who actually gives a toss - It does not alter the price of rice one jot.

For those dwelling in the British Isles - If you want to learn a language - take the time trouble and effort to learn Spanish, it will stand you in damn sight better stead than gaelic.
