Subject: BS: Irritating Pet Toys... From: Bobert Date: 16 Feb 06 - 01:19 PM Well, gol danged... Here we got a new kitty and figgured that new kitty needed some danged new new kitty toys so it was off to the kitty toy store for new kitty toys... So there was a mouse that squeaks when it is moved and it was like 79 cents so, hey, how can ya go wrong??? Right??? Well, the mouse did fine fir the first two weeks until new kitty decided it was time to give Mr. Mouse a awimming lesson and left it in new kitty's water bowl over night... Well, seems that Mr. Mouse has a battery in it and how-knows what else becuase after the swimming lesson, which was more like a floating lesson, Mr. Mouse decided that rather than squeak when moved that he's just let out a faint squeak every 5 seconds... So faint that it took me a half an hour to find the source of the sound... And, of course, rather than be in the water bowl, Mr. Mouse was now behind the washing machine??? Well, I fished Mr. Mouse out with a coat hanger and threw him out in the door into the yard where he's still out there, a day later, squeaking every 5 seconds to the delight of new kitty... And guess what??? Mr. Mouse is from here out an outdoor new kitty toy!!! Most irritating 79 cents I ever spent, gol dang it!!! Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: Irritating Pet Toys... From: Georgiansilver Date: 16 Feb 06 - 03:25 PM I spent £8 ($12) on a mouse and believe it or not the cat won't go anywhere near it. Having said that, the cat probably knows nothing about working a computer anyway. Best wishes, Mike. |

Subject: RE: BS: Irritating Pet Toys... From: GUEST Date: 16 Feb 06 - 03:29 PM why do cats drop their toys in the water dish ... our female siamese does it all the time. Here's an irritating pet toy ... our 2 greyhounds luv stuffy toys ... so my wife always goes to the used clothes consignemnt store to pick up a couple of stuffies every now and then ... one day she brings back this stuffed pig which is dressed in overalls ... throws it to the hounds who are of course delighted as ever with a new toy ... well, apparently it is a squeaky toy that belts out "heeee haw, now pull down your pants, now squeel like a pig". So we had to listen to that over and over until they tired of it, after which I hit it away for another day. sIx |

Subject: RE: BS: Irritating Pet Toys... From: Scoville Date: 16 Feb 06 - 04:33 PM My brother got one of those cat toys that's a plastic platform that has a track in it, with a ball in the track (ball is permanently in the track). Cat chases the thing in circles for HOURS. It has a cardboard scratch-able insert in the middle, too. My cat just liked newspaper on a string. Low-rent cat. |

Subject: RE: BS: Irritating Pet Toys... From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 17 Feb 06 - 07:15 AM I dunno anything about pet toys, but I know about those "so faint that it took me a half an hour to find the source..." sounds. It recently took me two weeks to figure out that the faint humming noise I was hearing in my workshop was a casette tape player that had been left on "pause". |

Subject: RE: BS: Irritating Pet Toys... From: jacqui.c Date: 17 Feb 06 - 08:29 AM Bobert - what can you expect from a kitty named Kendall? He's probably just as irritating as the original, but just as cute too! |

Subject: RE: BS: Irritating Pet Toys... From: sian, west wales Date: 17 Feb 06 - 09:46 AM My sister gave my border collie a squeaky toy back in the early '90s shaped like the Margaret Thatcher puppet from the series, "Spitting Image". He was a BIG dog, and from the minute it came out of its wrapper, he was scared to death of it. I could put it on a sofa if I didn't want him to climb on it and his ears would flatten and he'd slink off to the kitchen. He became a bit of a local attractions; I think all the neighbours called in at some point or another to see this. An animal with decent political instincts. siân |

Subject: RE: BS: Irritating Pet Toys... From: Scoville Date: 17 Feb 06 - 12:04 PM My grandmother's cat preferred toy squirrels. Do you know how hard it was (15 years ago) to find suitable toy squirrels? |
