First of all, thanks Alison.

Deanta's liner notes say this tune is based on an "old Gealic sea song". ANyone know which one? It's a beautiful tune and if there's a variant with different words (maybe something less depressing?) I'd love to know.

Alison - Thanks for the connections - Lesley NElson's site has something called Skye Boat song whose first half is an old sea song and the second half mentions Culloden. I'll have to wait until I get home to compare the tunes, but it may be a lead. Thanks again.

I have been searching for this tune for a long time. Thanks Alison. Not sure yet but it is very reminiscent of an old Gaelic air - not a sea shanty. Will try to come back with the origin.
