I know that hip replacement is in my future. I could also use a couple of new knees.

...and I thought dancing was supposed to be good exercise!

Need to know exactly what I'm in for.

Our Giok was obviously far too hip to begin with, or the Force would never have sent hi down this path. Even with surgery, he won't go down the Morris dance stream. He might learn some of those mid-Eastern fan dances, though, from the land of Mesopotamia. He could become a meso-hippopotamus.

My hope for you to get well as soon as possible, my Scottish friend, is slightly self-serving. I would like your wheelchair.

A few years ago, I queued for several hours to go on the Milennium Wheel in that London, and just as we got to the front of the queue, some fooker ran over me toes in their wheelchair, no waiting, straight into the pod. The moment the doors were closed, the bugger was bounding round the carriage like an antelope.

I imagine it will be very useful for getting the best seats on planes, parking next to the door at Tesco's and I can enter the Marathon without fear of failure to secure a place.

So get well soon, old friend!

I'm pleased to say that I have been on duty keeping my little eye on Mr Mackenzie - and have been applying the thermometer regularly to check on his temperature! - careful with the shoves 'n all, just a little problem though, I went to get my fountain pen (the one with the lovely gold nib) to sign a certifcation a little earlier, and it was nowhere to be found.. In my pocket, just where I keep my lovely pen, was the thermometer - so, Please, Giok, if you feel a little discomfort, something needling you -

My mother's done it twice, Giok, and she's got many years on you.

You WILL be morris dancing in no time (should you desire to) -- or at least walking about without pain. (What a concept!)

My hips are fine (Curmudgeon concurs), but my knees are shot -- and somehow they don't seem to "grow back", do they? How come we don't get the heavy duty industrial strength knees and hips as standard equipment?!?

Of course there's a downside to the recovery process -- it's called "rehab". Home of ex-drill sergeants with medical training.

Hallo. This is Liz (the "staff"). Thank you so much for your phone calls, cards and good wishes. I went to see himself yesterday. He's sitting up and taking notice and has managed a few steps with his crutches. (I think he'll pass on the Morris Dancing though!!) Don't know yet when he's likely to be released.
