Subject: BS: DA VINCI DECODED (in Hertfordshire) From: GUEST,Altus Nex Nex Altus Date: 08 May 06 - 05:26 AM Forget the fiction and Hype of the Da Vinci Code!! ITN news and crime correspondent Dan Rivers has now uncovered the real Knights Templar - an ultra-secret society that has survived in Hertfordshire to the present day, operating in underground caves, cellars and tunnels. The 3-part documentary is initially going out on More4 NEXT WEEK each at 9pm on Monday 15th, Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th (to coincide with the hype around the general time of the release of the Da Vinci Code movie later in May.) The first episode is about Secretive and Secret societies and features an interview with a man who has close links to the Templars. The interview takes place in an ancient, hidden underground Templar cave by candlelight. Dan Rivers also visits Hertford to investigate the Templar tunnels there with the help of his Templar insider! The documentary is also going out on Channel4 itself later in the year. No date is scheduled yet. You can see the crucial first installment next Monday 15th May 9pm on More4 - Digital satellite: Sky – Channel 142 More4+1 on digital satellite: Sky – Channel 189 Freeview: Channel 13 More4+1 on Freeview: Channel 31 Cable: ntl – Channel 166 Telewest – Channel 142 |

Subject: RE: BS: DA VINCI DECODED (in Hertfordshire) From: John O'L Date: 08 May 06 - 05:56 AM "...a man who has close links to the Templars..." Who could ask for better credentials than that? I'm convinced already. |
Subject: RE: BS: DA VINCI DECODED (in Hertfordshire) From: GUEST Date: 08 May 06 - 08:34 AM The name of the town of Baldock in Hertfordshire is apparently derived from Baghdad.... |

Subject: RE: BS: DA VINCI DECODED (in Hertfordshire) From: GUEST,Eleanor Date: 08 May 06 - 01:13 PM So do the Hertford tunnels extend beneath the Hertford Club? I'm able to believe in an underground Hertford secret society, but what pray are they supposed to actually DO? Kingmaking? blowing up the local council? sacrificing chickens? |
Subject: RE: BS: DA VINCI DECODED (in Hertfordshire) From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 08 May 06 - 02:14 PM Gee, isn't Baldock Ballocks? Seriously, the show should be fun. Only in England? Pity. |
Subject: RE: BS: DA VINCI DECODED (in Hertfordshire) From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 09 May 06 - 02:25 AM Eleanor, I am not sure about the club, but they are under Carol's place where we meet on 4th Wednesday. I think that they filmed there for the programme. |
Subject: RE: BS: DA VINCI DECODED (in Hertfordshire) From: GUEST,DB Date: 09 May 06 - 08:51 AM As a child I remember regular visits from my home town of Peterborough to my grandmother's house in Kent. This involved a bus journey down the A1 and the bus went through Baldock. For some reason I remember passing the end of a Bygrave Ave/Rd/St. I have always been puzzled as to why this should have stuck in my mind. Now I realise its significance!! It was named after Max Bygraves, the well known singer and Knight Templar who lives in a cave under Hertford and mutters secret incantations (when he's not singing them and/or looking for the Holy Grail). Or am I going completely mad? ... Am I completely mad?? ... I think I became mad after reading 'The Da Vinci Code' ... I know that I shouldn't have done it - it was rubbish ... and now its driven me mad ... |
Subject: RE: BS: DA VINCI DECODED (in Hertfordshire) From: Schantieman Date: 10 May 06 - 05:58 AM Ah, yes, now, I used to work at the Knights Templar School in Baldock. Used to be Baldock County Secondary School until it went comprehensive and the Headmaaster thought he'd move it up market a bit. Worked, too - an excellent school where I actually enjoyed teaching! Salient feature of the town was the number of pubs. There were about 14 I think in what was (probably still is) a small town where you might expect half a dozen or so. Why? At the junction of the Great North Road (A1) and Icknield Way (A505) and hence an important coaching stop in the 17th & 18th centuries. They formed (and no doubt still do, if they haven't been converted into posh restaurants) the basis of an enjoyable pub crawl. Thread creep, perhaps? Steve |
