That way, if the song becomes a hit, he makes money, and making money is a legitimate goal for a playwright. Get hold of a copy of the play and see what it says. |

Secondly - and I'm sure this won't really help - I have a vague memory of seeing a community theatre production many years ago in which the tune "Rally 'Round the Flag" was used with the above lyrics. But it would seem implausible, though, that Wilder would use lyrics from a song that didn't exist! It must be out there, somewhere... Jay |
