We've only just surfaced!
It was a really pleasant evening of sharing some new (to us) music in a very friendly environment.
What about the band then? Twanglefoot that is. Best arrangement of Danny Boy I've ever heard!

Is a pity it didnt stay arranged all the way through innit?
I blame the Evils of Cider!
LOL.
Mrs Twangler has been playing the whistles for a couple of years on and of and I been having guitar lessons about the same amount of time so is very nice that you like what we do.
Rockhen is a real musician she knows what them litle black squiggles and dots mean so we are dead lucky she likes to play our stuff with us.
Now for the big question is it folky enough?
All answers to ............C/O mudcat.
It was grea to hear that lass singing and you all gave me a big lump in me 'Froat with your singing at one point I love to hear those harmonies.
Dougie and Stitherum giving us a private concert was very good.
I wished more of the MRFC Irregulars could have been there but I am just greedy I suppose.
Hope you feeling bit better now Strollin'
Cheers
From Band with No Name.

Of course its Folkie enough Tim!
Don't worry about the tadpoles on the telegraph wires either its the music in the air that matters. There are lots who can read it from the paper but not make it sing.
Now, take extra care - I'm bringing an English concertina for Rockhen today. Who knows what will happen......

Attended the session with the old 'gobiron' which has not seen a session in twenty years...got left behind with some of it but enjoyed it all the same. The concert was interesting and the weather was good...no hot...no too flamin' hot but the liquid refreshment there is of course good. Good to meet Doug Chadwick overe the two days...nice to put mudcat names to faces. Sad to leave early but had a fine afternoon.
Best wishes, Mike.

Made it for a few hours - quite a lot of talent! Tim the Twangler seems to be getting over his shyness and Lady Twangler is a nice sidekick. Sets by Mr & Mrs Sooz and Gwenda & Terry not bad either! Will be a nice venue for a monthly "do". And what can one say about the "pink umbrella" man - does he not sing at all?

When you go to a concert you'll find him there,
Strutting his stuff with never a care.
Looks like he's folk musics number one fan,
That's Les, the VILLAN, pink umbrella man.

If you're good you'll get booked for Faldingworth Hall,
45 minutes is a really good call.
Impress this chap if you really can,
He's Les, the Villan, pink umbrella man.

Sorry Les, couldn't resist.

And when he folds his pink umbrella away
He then decides to use a tray!

And he paid me for playing!
Thanks V I will put the two p with all the others.
We have had a brilliant weekend.
It was great to be among a crowd of freindly music loving folk and to feel part of it all.
I even tried that bloody whistle tune again on me Bodrhan maybe one day will get it right!
We missed most of the session because we had freinds come with us and because I got sent to queue at the bar for about thirty minutes.
Was great day great people and great music.
Thanks for making us feel so welcome and being so encouraging about our efforts as well.
BTW hope the singaroun get of the ground will be there if at all possible but really the only dead cert for us is a saturday afternnon and or evening.
Cheers all and have a good rest of the weekend.

Sorry we got there too late for the session and Stitherum and G & T.
Thought I had better see my kids a bit and was waiting for a lift out there which ended up being delayed more than expected. Was disappointed not to be there earlier but glad you all had a good time.
We enjoyed the rest of the afternoon and evening. was a lovely weekend all round.
I notice Villan was too scared to stay til we played, LOL!

When the sun is bearing down upon your head
The sunburn makes your skin go rather red
Now when that happens, you need something or other
So its get your daughters pink umbrella to give that extra cover
If that doesn't work, you look for a hat thats made out of hay
When you can't find a hat of hay, you look for a lovely beer tray
Now that nice chap called Paul whose embarressed about this
Says heres my hat Les, I'm off for a piss

So the motto to this, if you ain't got a hat
Just use a pink umbrella or even a beer tray
I'll guarantee you whatever folkies say
You'll get offered a hat in 5 minutes flat

How did you guess Rockhen, no flies on you :-)

I thought the group who made the best effort to get to this afternoons event was Oakley, Greg and there jazz mate. It was amazing seeing them arrive in a rubber dighy with an outboard motor. That is real dedication coming all tha way from Barton on Humber. well done lads.

Whilst Les used his brolly and sought a straw boater,
Oaklet came by dingy with an outboard motor.
Some would say they could think of nothing dumber,
Than to travel that way from Barton on Humber.

I can think of nothing less banal,
Than sitting by that old canal
Brandy Wharf cider is so sound,
We should have a regular 'singaround'.

Sing a song of cider
lovely in its glass
near as sweet as nectar
or a bonny sun kissed lass
add a touch of laughter
sing a song or two
Brandy Wharf is calling
Can you hear it calling too?

Nice one Tim - any more verses to come?
Stylish trick with the boat - even cleverer to run out of petrol so they got marooned at the cider centre!
Pity about having to go to work today though.
We must have a whip round and buy Les a hat of his own.

Summer is for singing
Cider makes it fun
Stitherum were playing
a song for everyone
Villans pink umbrella
was thought by all as cool
The Dinghy crew were shipwrecked
But the captain was no fool.

Not that anything other than Cider (& Canadian Rye Whiskey if preserved apples unavailable) ever passes my lips - but did they get real ales in to supplement the ginourmous selection of Ciders?

FWIW Brandy Wharf derives it's name from Mr Brandee or somewhat - not from the distillation of fermented grapes.

The Cider House used to do a fantastic selection of meals - real cooked pub grub. viz Cider in Rosie - (cooked in Old Rosie - Westons Cider) as if you could think anything amiss!

A good and timely question, Monsieur Rouge, one that I wished I had asked before I sent the cabin boy to the bar, demanding ale, not cider. He returned with reddish brown liquid, which I knew was some ghastly KreemFlo or summat, as it was considerably colder than ambient. The first sip confirmed my worst fears, the cabin boy smiled and said nothing, and my second pint was a superb cider that made me want to fight like a sailor on a run ashore.

No, in brief, there are no real at and the Brandy Wharf.

The cabin boy came good in the end tho Skipjack.

He detatched the motor and deflated the boat for you, all on his own - didn't he :-)
