Sorry ladies - Some men like bottoms, some like breasts, some legs, some faces. All like personalities. None that I know like no sense of humour. No ability to laugh at yourself. I would not mind in the least if you start a meat and two veg thread although I would believe it to be very contrived. To most women I know those are often the least attactive parts of a mans anatomy!

Can anyone explain to me how discussing any aspect of an impersonal human body is insulting to anyone?

I have no problem with this type of thread but some of the comments on the other related threads were rather unpleasant e.g 'Small titties rule.... If you want big tits, marry a cow'. That, to me, is derogatory, although it probably says more about the author than anything else. However, to a young woman who is unhappy with her body remarks like that do not help, they only make for more self-consciousness. How would you fellas feel if, during a conversation with a woman, she spent all her time staring at your genital area? That is very much how it feels for a woman talking to a man who is, effectively, having a conversation with her breasts. Highly uncomfortable.

I suppose that the problem that I would have, if any, is that these threads tend to reduce women to the sum of their body parts. That doesn't seem to happen to the same degree with men.

This isn't just the case on the 'Cat - it happens just about anywhere. I can remember a number of occasions where, in a group of people, the girl with the most attractive attributes got the most attention from the men. Didn't matter whether she was interesting to talk to - she looked good and that was enough. Yes, it annoyed me when an good looking girl joined the group I was talking with and the attention went from all the other females to that one.

Nowadays I've got past that for the main part and now know that the people I care about don't have that shallowness. I've also got to an age where I am aware that I am no longer 'attractive' in that way. It's actually quite liberating in that I know when a man is interested in talking to me he is interested in me as a person, not a body.

Agree entirely, Jaqui. How does reading a thread about breasts equate to a man looking at yours? Please seperate your arguments so we know what your objection actualy is. I am only a man after all! Mind you I am a married one as well so I also know I am on a hiding to nothing;-)

There was a similar discussion on the thread about enhancing photographs - Are these digital enhancements insulting to 'ordinary' women etc. I was unsure before reading it but after looking at the arguments I have decided that those people they insult must be very shallow indeed to believe that looks are that important. Ditto with discussing body parts.

As to your objections, six. You don't find it funny. So what? I am sure there are things you find humorous that I don't. I would never presume to ban them or suggest that you are in any way inferior to me for liking them. Assuming a higher intelect or better sense of humour in some way IS insulting.

OK Jaqui. So what it boils down to is that it may offend the sensibilities of some women, usualy young ones, who feel that they should look like the models they see in the glossies? Pointing out their own self-imposed inadequacies is an insult?

Or is it the meat market thing that is a problem? Being judged purely on their physical attributes? Ok. If so how about banning sporting events. By having women watching football matches will it makes me feel like a second class person because I cannot play like Rooney or look like Beckham.

There are some things that MUST be judged purley on physical attributes. They are physical things. Much like tits and bums! Which I guess could be applicable to the football analogy as well;-)

Sorry - realy don't mean to argue with you personaly but when I see any aspect of polical correctness it rubs me up the wrong way. Flaw in my character I suppose!

Sorry again, on a re-read I find I lied! I am not against ANY aspect of politcal correctness - Just ones like this. It is of vital importance to make sure that all people are treated equaly. When people start to pick up on petty points like what you can and cannot tell jokes about it devalues the important work people are doing to make sure pay is equal, opportunities are equal, living conditions are the same and a plethora of things that matter a whole lot more than how people feel they look.
