Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: GUEST Date: 12 Aug 06 - 07:21 AM Point taken, Liz. I will say however that that much reviled hind portion makes excellent crab bait when attached to a piece of clothesline. Still talking chicken, right? |

Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: Dave the Gnome Date: 12 Aug 06 - 10:30 AM Sorry ladies - Some men like bottoms, some like breasts, some legs, some faces. All like personalities. None that I know like no sense of humour. No ability to laugh at yourself. I would not mind in the least if you start a meat and two veg thread although I would believe it to be very contrived. To most women I know those are often the least attactive parts of a mans anatomy! Can anyone explain to me how discussing any aspect of an impersonal human body is insulting to anyone? And if 'This thread is is the kind of stuff that helps sets back the advancement of equality/rights of women back about 40 years.' then heaven help us all. We may as well have no rights if humour can remove them so easily. Cheers DtG |
Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: jacqui.c Date: 12 Aug 06 - 10:52 AM I have no problem with this type of thread but some of the comments on the other related threads were rather unpleasant e.g 'Small titties rule.... If you want big tits, marry a cow'. That, to me, is derogatory, although it probably says more about the author than anything else. However, to a young woman who is unhappy with her body remarks like that do not help, they only make for more self-consciousness. How would you fellas feel if, during a conversation with a woman, she spent all her time staring at your genital area? That is very much how it feels for a woman talking to a man who is, effectively, having a conversation with her breasts. Highly uncomfortable. I suppose that the problem that I would have, if any, is that these threads tend to reduce women to the sum of their body parts. That doesn't seem to happen to the same degree with men. This isn't just the case on the 'Cat - it happens just about anywhere. I can remember a number of occasions where, in a group of people, the girl with the most attractive attributes got the most attention from the men. Didn't matter whether she was interesting to talk to - she looked good and that was enough. Yes, it annoyed me when an good looking girl joined the group I was talking with and the attention went from all the other females to that one. Nowadays I've got past that for the main part and now know that the people I care about don't have that shallowness. I've also got to an age where I am aware that I am no longer 'attractive' in that way. It's actually quite liberating in that I know when a man is interested in talking to me he is interested in me as a person, not a body. |
Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: GUEST,number 6 Date: 12 Aug 06 - 11:25 AM I forgot to add dignity to my post up above ... not just women's dignity, but human dignity .... as one who very much appreciates humour (even at oneself), I'm sorry, I find no humour in this ... I did at one time in around grade 8 or 9. Regardless, just expressing my thoughts regarding to the nature and subject of this thread. Divis Sweeney opened a sincere thread in regards to the admiration of women ... it unfortunatly got junked up by moronic posts. Good post Jacqui .. thanks sIx |
Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: Dave the Gnome Date: 12 Aug 06 - 11:46 AM How would you fellas feel if, during a conversation with a woman, she spent all her time staring at your genital area? Agree entirely, Jaqui. How does reading a thread about breasts equate to a man looking at yours? Please seperate your arguments so we know what your objection actualy is. I am only a man after all! Mind you I am a married one as well so I also know I am on a hiding to nothing;-) There was a similar discussion on the thread about enhancing photographs - Are these digital enhancements insulting to 'ordinary' women etc. I was unsure before reading it but after looking at the arguments I have decided that those people they insult must be very shallow indeed to believe that looks are that important. Ditto with discussing body parts. As to your objections, six. You don't find it funny. So what? I am sure there are things you find humorous that I don't. I would never presume to ban them or suggest that you are in any way inferior to me for liking them. Assuming a higher intelect or better sense of humour in some way IS insulting. Cheers DtG |
Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: jacqui.c Date: 12 Aug 06 - 12:01 PM Dave - my point was that it sometimes feels, when reading the kind of remarks that I quoted, that women are being judged as worthy purely on their physical attributes. I'm sure that I'm not the only person that feels that way. It's almost like being in a meat market. When I was younger that mattered - a lot. Consequently I can feel for those still at that stage. |
Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: Dave the Gnome Date: 12 Aug 06 - 12:19 PM OK Jaqui. So what it boils down to is that it may offend the sensibilities of some women, usualy young ones, who feel that they should look like the models they see in the glossies? Pointing out their own self-imposed inadequacies is an insult? Or is it the meat market thing that is a problem? Being judged purely on their physical attributes? Ok. If so how about banning sporting events. By having women watching football matches will it makes me feel like a second class person because I cannot play like Rooney or look like Beckham. There are some things that MUST be judged purley on physical attributes. They are physical things. Much like tits and bums! Which I guess could be applicable to the football analogy as well;-) Sorry - realy don't mean to argue with you personaly but when I see any aspect of polical correctness it rubs me up the wrong way. Flaw in my character I suppose! Cheers DtG |
Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: Matt_R Date: 12 Aug 06 - 12:22 PM "Threads like this are as insulting to men as they are to women, IMO. " Oh shut the fuck up. |
Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: Dave the Gnome Date: 12 Aug 06 - 12:46 PM Sorry again, on a re-read I find I lied! I am not against ANY aspect of politcal correctness - Just ones like this. It is of vital importance to make sure that all people are treated equaly. When people start to pick up on petty points like what you can and cannot tell jokes about it devalues the important work people are doing to make sure pay is equal, opportunities are equal, living conditions are the same and a plethora of things that matter a whole lot more than how people feel they look. Cheers DtG |

Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: GUEST,number 6 Date: 12 Aug 06 - 02:44 PM "I am sure there are things you find humorous that I don't." GtG ... I'm sure there are ... certainly wouldn't expect you or anyone else to find them humourous ... but I do try not to make any of my humour derogatory, or insulting to other 'innocent' individuals. and btw, I'm not suggesting, nor did I suggest, that this thread be deleted or closed. sIx |
Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: Peace Date: 12 Aug 06 - 02:55 PM "Dave - my point was that it sometimes feels, when reading the kind of remarks that I quoted, that women are being judged as worthy purely on their physical attributes. I'm sure that I'm not the only person that feels that way. It's almost like being in a meat market." I agree with you 100% Jacqui. However, please note that someone waaaaay upthread--I am not going back to see who--said words to the effect that a thing to do in response was to start a thread that 'gets even'. What would have made THAT any righter than this thread? I think threads like this are shit, FYI. Also, Matt, you are a twerp. Nasty little fellow, IMO. So just for you, paisan, vaffunculo. I hope the Italian half of your heritage understands that. I mean it in the nicest way possible. |
Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: Dave the Gnome Date: 12 Aug 06 - 04:23 PM I'm DtG, fIve. GtG is my second cousin:-) You don't like your humour to be derogatory but you are more than happy to suggest that someone else's humour is equivalent to yours in 'grade 8 or 9'. I must admit I have no idea what grade 8 or 9 is but am I correct in guessing that your reference is to a juvenille age? If so then you do not want to make derogatory jokes at non-specific persons but are quite happy to make derogatory remarks about the humour of a specific person. I am not sure which is more insulting but lets try this experiment. Englsh blokes have little willies. sIx is not his name. It is his IQ. Now, which of those two statements is more insulting. I am quite happy to go with the vote of the majority. Cheers DtG |

Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: Dave the Gnome Date: 12 Aug 06 - 06:55 PM Fine - You don't give a shit. So why the last post? I notice you are directing your comments directly at me as well. So, like I said, you don't want to give offense to these vague poor little people who need protecting but you are quite happy to call me a pathetic imbacile? You think women need to be protected by people like you? That they cannot fight their own battles? Oh dear. Tells us am awful lot about you. Pound to a penny you will now find this thread 'below your mighty intellect' ;-) Cheers :D (tG) |
Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: Dave the Gnome Date: 12 Aug 06 - 07:04 PM BTW - Forgot to ask. I presume that you can prove the comment that I have 'even create a new thread (as you have done) to carry on you pathetic imbecilic rhetoric'. Put you money where your mouth is. What is my pathetic imbecillic rhetoric and what thread have I created to carry it on? Surely you cannot mean the thread I started to suggest that men and women are equal can you? Oh, sorry, forgot. You wont be posting here as it is beneath you. Sorry sir. :D (tG) |

Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: Dave the Gnome Date: 13 Aug 06 - 04:36 AM I don't understand the last 2 comments. Not sure if I want to:-P Still no proof that I created a pathetic imbecilic thread though. Doesn't surprise me in the least because there isn't any! Isn't it the way of things eh? People throw comments out as facts and, when asked to justify them, cannot be seen for dust. Just as well I am not as thin skinned as the poor souls who can be hurt by my feeble attempts at humour;-) Cheers DtG |
Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: Dave the Gnome Date: 13 Aug 06 - 05:00 PM One last chance to back up your comments, sIx. I'm off to bed soon but if you can show me where I posted a pathetic imbecilic thread I will happily continue the discussion tomorrow. If not can I safely assume that you were talking out of your arse and your comment can be taken for the nonsense it was? Cheers DtG |
Subject: RE: BS: asses v breast thread From: Slag Date: 13 Aug 06 - 06:29 PM Oh what fun! Can I play? I love Jacqui's comment about men talking to her breasts. Women (in general) exercise to have bigger breasts, buy wonderbras and falsies, decolletage dresses, put "cute" little butterfly tattoos on their bossoms, squirt perfume on them, etc. AND THEN---if a man should look at them during the course of a conversation, "WELL! He spent all his time looking at my breasts!!" I am SHOCKED, SHOCKED to find gambling here! So what was the point of all those preperations?? Oh, and by the way, YES, I HAVE had women stare at my crotch during a conversation but at some point my wife will draw me aside and tell me my fly is open! |
