Each answer in the quiz is matched in sound by another. But it is not matched in spelling. As usual, please Do Not Put Answers in The Thread!
You may calim scores, or put unhelpful comments, but don't spoil it for others as it is usually a week or more before all those who may be interested get a look in.

Jeri:
If you've got them all bar #18, then by reading the theme at the start of the quiz you can pair them up. That should give you the last answer!

I know I'll think of nos. 12 & 16 now that I've sent my answers off, but 2 & 7 I will never get so 16 will have to be good enough for me.

I probably got 7 wrong too, but I did the best I could with the brain I've got.

Jeri if you can't get 18 and you're not sure about 7 but have all the rest, *and you can pair them off*, then I must have 18 wrong, because I have it paired elsewhere.

John, I have all the rest paired, and none look like they might be wrong. Waiting for Nigel. I think the ones I can't get are some sort of English non-rhyming slang, like 'apples and pears' for 'roof'.

I must be getting soft in my old age, 4 scores of 20/20 from The Walrus, JennyO, Snuffy & Tig. With valiant attempts from Jeri 18/20 & JohnO'L 16/20

I'm guessing Snuffy was stuck at 19/20 but then added the only homophone he could think of to fill the gap. It was the question causing most problems though.

So, without giving the answer to #18, think of another meaning (English) for 'sleeper', and translate to American??
If in doubt think of one of the songs sung by the crows in 'Dumbo'!

Cheers
Nigel

Jeri, Q16, the last word of the question is yet another hint at the same answer.

When I guessed I was thinking "sleeper" referred to what ladies put in their ears when they remove their earrings. But then I realised that these sleepers are much much bigger. Then it all made sense.

Well I think I have them all: though I'm not convinced that the volcanic island is that homophonic. There seem to be a couple of others which would give trouble to Americans, either becqause of different words or different pronunciations.
Nice one Nigel.

The island might be more homophonic in Ireland, Greg

I don't know plants well enough to get 2, can't find homophones for 5 and 17, and 12 is too much of a riddle. The other 16 all tie up though.

16. duh. duhduhduhDUHDUH!!!
18. I think I got that too, but I might have to complain about it. I think the 'sleeper' part may be related to the answer, but not the same thing. Of course, I might be completely wrong. I hope I am.

And four more scores of 20. (I know, a 'score' is always twenty) Nessie, Vectis, Greg & DMcG.
A couple of those answer sets were sent with 20 answers written in pairs, with no question numbers, so could have been guessing at a couple based on having one of the pair.
