Subject: Jack Hudson gig/Derbys/Wed/ 20th Sept From: Big Al Whittle Date: 19 Sep 06 - 08:31 PM Sorry should have told you about this before. Jack is doing a gig at The Black Horse Folk Club, which is a newish venue tonight. It is in Somercotes which is between Alfreton and Selston - thats on the Notts/Derbyshire border. Saw him do a charity spot for Oxfam in Loughborough tonight, and I can confirm the old magic is still there. He played a stunning little set Souvenirs Driftwood and Nails LA Freeway Sing like you don't need the money Jack was topping the bill in a concert that also featured award winning American actress/singer /songwriter Kristin Marie Holly, star of the film, The Collapsing Wall. |

Everyone in Somercotes and its environs should get off their butts and get down there tonight to see the Maestro. Country-blues-folk-Americana at its very, very best. IMNSHO! S:0) |

Subject: RE: Jack Hudson gig/Derbys/Wed/ 20th Sept From: Big Al Whittle Date: 21 Sep 06 - 08:13 AM A fan turned up with some photos of Jack from the 1970's, or possibly before. They were soon doing the rounds of the audience. Naturally the song Souvenirs seemed very appropriate. Lots of requests for all the old material and Jack did his best to oblige, plus material from the Elvis is Alive and Well album. There was a cracking new song which I didn't get the title of. A great night and a nice contribution from the club resident Trev MacAllister - songs by Dylan and Neil Young. The Black Horse is a pub renowned as a heavy rock venue in the past, but we had a great PA job from the gentleman whose name escapes me who did the PA at the bandstand for the Crich festival. Big JBL speakers and a studiomaster desk - no monitor, but a generally quiet and attentive audience. As a club it deserves our support. |
