Subject: Geoff Muldaur at Hugh's Room review From: GUEST,Jim Date: 07 Oct 06 - 11:22 AM Last Wednesday Geoff Muldaur appeared at Hugh's Room in Toronto, Ontario. I had never seen Geoff, but was a big fan through his work with Kweskin, Amos Garrett and solo, but I had lost touch for many years. He is still a great guitar player, singer and story teller. Geoff was playing the new "Geoff Muldaur model Martin guitar". It's a sunburst 12-fret slotted head O or OO shaped guitar. Geoff said that Martin let him help with the design and he "tricked them into building a Gibson". It did look a lot like a small bodied Gibson guitar. He had not been in Canada for 28 years and after singing Gee, Baby Ain't I Good To You, he said,"There used to be a guy from Hamilton back in the '70s who used to sing that song named Jackie Washington. He was amazed to find out that Jackie was still around and active on the Canadian Folk scene and would be playing that very room next month about the time of his 87th birthday. |
