Subject: BS: American League Pitchers From: GUEST,Dazbo Date: 10 Oct 06 - 06:21 AM Since the introduction of the Designated Hitter (boo hiss) has an American League pitcher batted? (Not counting inter league play or the World Series - just normal AL match ups). Although unlikely I believe it is possible as if the designated hitter is substituted the pitcher has to bat (is this true?) Cheers |

Subject: RE: BS: American League Pitchers From: Rabbi-Sol Date: 10 Oct 06 - 10:05 PM It is true that if the designated hitter is taken out of the lineup the pitcher has to bat. I remember once that a pitcher was used as a pinch hitter in the late innings but I forget who he was. He had just been traded from a National League team and was used to swinging the bat regularly. It may have been Curt Schilling but I am not sure. SOL ZELLER |
