Subject: BS: PS2 compatability From: Rasener Date: 12 Dec 06 - 04:35 PM Ok I have finally caved in to upgrading my daughters Playstation to PS2 - can't afford PS3. Does anybody know if you can use the same controllers and memory cards from Playstation for PS2? Many thanks for any help. Les |

Subject: RE: BS: PS2 compatability From: Rasener Date: 12 Dec 06 - 04:57 PM Didn't ask you if you cared Guest. Obviously you don't have the knowledge or you would have been burstin to show us what your tiny brain holds - if anything. |

Subject: RE: BS: PS2 compatability From: Becca72 Date: 12 Dec 06 - 04:57 PM Villan, I don't know for sure, but I don't think you can use the PS stuff for PS2. The saleskid should be able to tell you, though if you call Circuit City or whatever electronics giant you have in your area. |

Subject: RE: BS: PS2 compatability From: Tinker Date: 12 Dec 06 - 05:34 PM I just went into my highschool sons who said that the old controllers work as long as the game does not require a joy stick. The new controllers have added features, but they are not needed for all games. Most new games will need the dual analog feature. The playstaion 1 memory cards will continue to work with playstaion one games when played on PS2. PS2 games will need PS2 memory cards. Hope this helps tinker |

Subject: RE: BS: PS2 compatability From: Lox Date: 12 Dec 06 - 05:40 PM You wrote it down and copied it onto the screen didn't you tinker ;') Come on - admit it - you haven't got a clue what they're on about! Bloody kids! Just cos they are more evolved versions of us they think they'e so damned cool! grumble grumble ... oh ... my back ... where's that bloody cushion ... ... bloody kids ... |

Subject: RE: BS: PS2 compatability From: Rasener Date: 13 Dec 06 - 04:53 AM Thank you Tinker, that is a great help and I fully understand what your lads are saying - thanks to them. I didn't try the old controllers, but I did try the memeory cards and as you say they work with the old games but not with the new ones. Ah well hey ho and off to e-bay to get and additional PS2 controller and PS2 Memory Cards. From a 61 year old :-) |

Subject: RE: BS: PS2 compatability From: Tinker Date: 13 Dec 06 - 08:11 AM Hey, aside from the dual analog bit I actually did understand what I typed. But that's because they have been carefully tutoring me for years whenever they want an upgrade. But since I won't even concider any item that is essentially unavailable PS3 will wait awhile here too. |

Subject: RE: BS: PS2 compatability From: ranger1 Date: 13 Dec 06 - 09:30 AM Hi Les, being an avid video gamer myself, feel free to PM me for any info. Tinker gave you the real deal. Most PS1 games will play on the PS2, but not all. The new PS2 should come with a controller, which will work for the older games, the analog thumb sticks just won't do anything. As for memory cards, try looking for used ones and then just delete the old info. It's much cheaper than buying new. I don't know what they run in the UK, but a new memory card in the US is about $20. With the advent of the PS3, prices should drop a bit, but it may take a while. |

Subject: RE: BS: PS2 compatability From: Rasener Date: 13 Dec 06 - 11:17 AM Ranger1 Memeory - yes exepnsive and your suggestion is a good one, so will go on the search. >>analog thumb sticks just won't do anything.<< Aren't they on the old ps1 controllers? Cheers Les |

Subject: RE: BS: PS2 compatability From: ranger1 Date: 13 Dec 06 - 06:17 PM Depends on the game. The earliest PS1 games don't use the thumb sticks, but you can still use the directional pad on the controller. If you already have the controllers with the rumble feature for the PS1, then the same controllers will work fine for PS2 games. |
