Subject: BS: UFO over O'Hare From: SINSULL Date: 07 Jan 07 - 11:56 AM According to last night's news report, several workers at Ohare Airport reported seeing a UFO which hovered near the airpost then took off at high speed into the clouds ripping a large hole in the cloud cover as it went. This is a "rare" occurence and authorities are saying it was a weather situation which created odd light effects. Anyone else see this report? SINS |

Subject: RE: BS: UFO over O'Hare From: Alice Date: 07 Jan 07 - 12:20 PM Yes, I saw it on CNN headline news last week (the sighting was in Nov) and mentioned it in Mudcat Chat. Also found a link on NPR news web site. The reports of witnesses are being ignored, and eventually that is what hit the news. Interesting stuff, eh? Alice |

"I checked around. There's no record of anything." Well, that makes it perfectly clear, doesn't it? Nobody chose to write anything down about it, so it didn't happen! |
Subject: RE: BS: UFO over O'Hare From: JohnInKansas Date: 07 Jan 07 - 02:21 PM Sins - There's a report in the "Read it in the Newspaper" thread from about a week ago, immediately preceding your post that "I read about it." The next post (03 Jan 07 - 06:11 AM I think) is actually more interesting for the link to some gorgeous "UFO-like" cloud pictures. One of the air traffic controllers commented what a "bummer" it was: "They come six light years to O'Hare and have to go back home because their docking station is occupied. That's just unacceptable." John |

Subject: RE: BS: UFO over O'Hare From: JohnInKansas Date: 07 Jan 07 - 02:41 PM They probably just forget to call ahead. SOP now requires any scheduled plane flying into O'Hare to have landing clearance (and gate assignment) before it takes off from the last prior location. And they still get "stacked" in holding patterns sometimes. John |

Subject: RE: BS: UFO over O'Hare From: frogprince Date: 08 Jan 07 - 04:21 PM A few years ago, on Halloween night, I saw three major UFOs. I was estatic. They were so high that their motion was imperceptable, and they formed a large triangle in the sky. I would have just taken them for bright stars, but each one was leaving a bright trail, the curves of each trail matching to show that they were flying in formation. It was the first indication I had of developing cataracts; the streaks only showed up from those brightest points, which I guess were planets, and I still don't quite get why the appearance of the "trails" was so stable and consistent. The neighbors son and a couple of his buddies may still think I'm crazy; it's the only time I met them, and I kept going on about the "phenomenom" that obiviously was only visible to me. |
Subject: RE: BS: UFO over O'Hare From: GUEST,Shimrod Date: 08 Jan 07 - 05:52 PM I once saw a meteor in broad daylight. It was like a large lump of hot coal which whizzed through the sky from horizon to horizon in about half a second. This was in Eastern England about 25 years ago. This, of course, was not strictly a UFO because I could make a reasonably good guess about what it was. I would like to think that there are intelligent extra-terrestrials. Until recently the odds of them existing was about 50:50 for and against (ie.no evidence either way). With the recent discovery of numerous extra-solar planets those odds are now slightly in favour of the 'aliens exist' position. I still don't expect to know for certain in my lifetime, though. Actually, the Galaxy may contain several alien species (perhaps hundreds or thousands) - and perhaps some of them won't be friendly. Scary stuff if you think about it - just imagine the firepower of a species that can cross interstellar space! |

Subject: RE: BS: UFO over O'Hare From: GUEST, Topsie Date: 08 Jan 07 - 06:34 PM I saw a beauty once - cigar shaped, lights all round like a proper flying saucer, hovering in the sky . . . Turned out to be a balloon/airship/dirigible that they use in Aldershot to train parachutists and they were doing a night-time exercise - but as far as I was concerned it was unidentified (and flying) until I saw it in daylight and realised what I had seen. |

I've found a photo of a UFO http://www.airphotousa.com/Funstuff/Samples/fullsize/denver-ufo.jpg After some study I've concluded that it might be a drop of water on the camera lens, or it might be one of those filmy stains that's left when water evaporates from your lens (as seen on many a pair of binoculars). But the site SAYS it's a UFO. Don't be skeptical just because the URL contains "funstuff," either. |
