From: Peace Date: 15 Jan 07 - 07:27 PM All screwin' around aside, "The incoming weather is being caused by a cold air mass moving in from the Ohio Valley. Environment Canada says the coldest air mass so far this season will move in behind the storm on Tuesday." You be careful out there, all you guys and gals in the east. |

Subject: RE: BS: Winter finally arrives in Ontario... From: GUEST, Topsie Date: 15 Jan 07 - 07:34 PM Well they say we are going to get storms here (UK) on Thursday. If that's the storm you're getting in Canada on Tuesday, does that mean we'll be getting snow on Friday? |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter finally arrives in Ontario... From: Little Hawk Date: 15 Jan 07 - 07:37 PM More importantly, how soon will it hit Australia? |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter finally arrives in Ontario... From: Rapparee Date: 15 Jan 07 - 07:38 PM When I lived in the Ohio Valley all the cold air came from Canada. Why the change? Is it me? |

Subject: RE: BS: Winter finally arrives in Ontario... From: Mooh Date: 15 Jan 07 - 09:33 PM We got less at Goderich (Lake Huron) than those living further inland by the look of cars I've seen today. High schools were closed (busses couldn't run) but the elementary schools were operating. Two of my private music students came from out of town safely, but there was much less traffic than usual on the highways. At least now there's a bit of ground cover for the gardens and dog deposits. Peace, Mooh. |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter finally arrives in Ontario... From: Bee Date: 15 Jan 07 - 10:09 PM My four month old cat hadn't seen snow before today. He went out about four o'clock, came back in two minutes later, and proceeded to beat me about the ankles. He thinks I did it. He's still mad, sitting with his back to me on the couch. I'm just hoping for the power to stay on - we lose it out here far too often. |
Subject: RE: BS: Winter finally arrives in Ontario... From: GUEST,Seiri Omaar Date: 15 Jan 07 - 10:44 PM We got a few inches of snow today in Ottawa. Still abnormally warm though. At least the snow is staying on the ground (so far!). |

Subject: RE: BS: Winter finally arrives in Ontario... From: black walnut Date: 16 Jan 07 - 07:12 PM Ya, and yesterday I caught a squirrel digging up bulbs in my front garden, digging right through that ultra-thick blanket of snow, and it ran off with one of those dear little bulbs up the closest hydro pole. And here I thought they didn't care for crocuses and daffodils.... ~b.w. |

Subject: RE: BS: Winter finally arrives in Ontario... From: bobad Date: 16 Jan 07 - 07:27 PM It is currently close to -20°C here in eastern Ontario with a forecast low of -25°C tonight - that's the coldest we've had for a few years now - fortunately I have some nice hard maple wood for the stove, which I've been saving for just this situation, and will be nice and cozy tonight. |

Subject: RE: BS: Winter finally arrives in Ontario... From: Beer Date: 17 Jan 07 - 08:11 AM Well the geese have finally left. Up to yesterday morning a flock of 19 have been at the back of the house enjoying the open water. I was thinking that I would have to chop them out of the ice this morning, but no. they have left. How far is the question. There was a flock of American Finches at the feeder and I swear to Christmas that one had all it's summer colors. Haven't seen the chipmunks in the past 2 days so that is good . I hope. Have a great winter day. Beer Aka (adrien) |
