Thinking of you all in my ESPECIALLY glam getup today as I process some bulk-cooked stuff and clean up the kitchen:

<> Cut off (below knees) navy cotton jersy pants worn inside out with at least a 1-inch seam allownace sticking out like some kind of ruffle from hell (I lost weight and took them in but haven't cut off the excess yet!)
<> Stained beige cotton jersey v-neck sleeveless top
<> Heavy black, shock-absorbing shoes

So you go for the retro look?

Actually, I look pretty good today in office clothes. Light brown skirt (oddball color--sort of the color of powdered cocoa), light blue T-shirt, lapis blue turtleneck, stockings (even though I hate nylons), brown shoes, and my office jacket. My office is cold so I bought my brother's outgrown Union Army sack coat to wear to work. The wool is the perfect weight, it has a handy inside breast pocket, and it's a nice, dignified, dark blue.

A week and a half later, still maintaining my glam standards-- how about youse?

Me, blue cotton knit housedress with sleeves cut off, faithful fuzzy red slippers, two pairs of glasses.

I found a second pair of those slippers, BTW, not for the 3 bucks the first pair cost me but for $2! Already wishing I'd bought more. One pair for downstairs, one pair for upstairs, one pair for camper, one pair in closet to replace first pair when they wear out..... Faulkner would like me to get him a dozen pairs to sew into a large cushion for him, LOL!

Its amazing what a strip of duct tape on the outside seam of your pants can do.

Thats right! Now put strips from the shoulders to the wrist on the outside edge. Put another strip around the top of your gum boots.

Make yourself a ray gun and a helmet...

Fun and easy.

Sitting here at the moment in whitey tighties, t-shirt, jeans, white cotton socks, and a long-sleeve shirt from sidewalk bargain day, in a pattern I don't begin to know how to describe.
Just spent a solid week with a leg so sore I could barely shift around in bed, let alone get up (I'm walking gingerly now, and have an MRI in the morning.) That was far and away the longest time I've spent stark naked since I was a fetus.

I have a handmade duct tape wallet should anyone like to borrow it to match their duct tape suit! It is shiny silver with bits of sticky parts here and there. It is a unique, one-of-a-kind accessory made by a very creative, thoughtful and talented 12 year old young lady (who recently played the part of Henry Ford in a local play). She is a bit of a fashion diva herself, often sporting bright pink feathery collars, faux leopard outerwear carrying a backpack loaded down with multitudes of hanging stuffed animals and other assorted figures. :)

As for my glamourous self today, I'm wearing jeans, a long sleeved purple top, whatever socks were in the top of the drawer, pink slippers, silver hoops, wedding rings and hair pulled back in a high bun with wispies poking out all over the place. My shirt is adorned with several strands of thread as I am sewing (with a snip, snip here and a snip, snip there....you know the rest!).

Don't forget, the duct tape wallet is yours to borrow.....I do think it would go well with Alba's cerulean sweater (Hi Sweet Woman!)!!!

:) Michelle

OOOh! now that schmecks JennyO and sooo much more practical than my choice! Not only would it match the colour of my computer and the fluffy bathrobe I'm wearing, the fringes would help divert the rain when I'm doing chores outside.... and with the help of Charlie's duct tape, I'm sure I could keep that sucker on my head and withstand any mighty wind, in or out. Now if I could just determine if I could get those pantlegs suffed into me rubber boots. LOL

OK, by now I certainly have been up long enough that I ought to be wearing clothes, instead of the shapeless cotton knit nightie I cut the sleeves off of because they were too tight. There's glamour-- I didn't even sew the cut parts down, I left 'em in place!

And the UPS man might arrive at any moment! THEY know the real truth of our Mudcatting-wear!

It isn't nice to "out" other Catters, but one of them was once well-known for wearing...... bubblewrap. Another was said to wear naught but socks. I fear those times are past and gone. (Or were they lying as much as some of us in this thread?)

I know if all I was wearing was socks, they'd be doing double-duty as boob-warmers.

Ah well... we must do what we can to uphold Mudcat standards.

Yes, Mudcat is definitely Glam Central. Now I suppose people googling for glam will cruise in here in droves.

You know I was wondering if I should perhaps take to heart this little speech delivered by Meryl Streep in the Devil wears Prada as I slipped into my....slightly worn (bin worthy) wolly blue sweater this morning to walk to Hound..... the speech went like this.

Miranda Priestly played by Ms Streep: This... 'stuff'? (talking about high end fashion) Oh... ok. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don't know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. You're also blindly unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar De La Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St Laurent, wasn't it, who showed cerulean military jackets? And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of 8 different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic casual corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of stuff.

Thing is I did find the blue (maybe even cerulean) sweater I have selected to wear this morning in a clearance bin...LOL.

I've also been known to Mudcat in my bathing suit when I get home from the day's aquatic workout and haven't changed yet. I also have one suit (mine's purple and black) that's especially supportive that I sometimes wear when I clean the kitchen, and I know that one's been to Mudcat as well.

A floor-length silver evening gown covered in sequins, bright red lipstick and a cigarette holder.

No, not really (alas): pin-striped pajama bottoms, grey boiled wool clogs (no socks), a pink tank top with "Bele Chose" in script across the front, given me by my dirty-minded medievalist boyfriend, and an ancient plaid flannel bathrobe, all set off to perfection by hair pulled up on top of my head in a scrunchy.

Maybe I'd better think about getting in the shower, hmmm?
