OK. Living proof that having a physical impairment & being desirable are not mutually exclusive states of being.
I was aware of that as it has been my honour & privilege to have been married to a woman who is both of these things for coming up 15 years now.
May I politely remind you all that this woman is not motivated by a desire to give you all a cheap thrill.
She is trying to raise money for the MS society. She asks that you make a donation by way of payment for access to these pictures.
Please respect her wishes in this matter.
That's fair isn't it?

Good for her...I hope she continues to raise lots of funds. It's certainly a novel approach.

gee, I'd make a small donation if she'd just cover those up.

(different tits for different twits, I suppose)

I can see this being fun or workable as a bar bet, but on the internet there are 10,000 places to see better for free if one wishes.

Good luck to her and I'm glad it's for a good cause.

I'm confused. What do breasts - bared or not - have to do with Multiple Sclerosis? And how is this 'thrill' supposed to engage women?

Reminds me W A Y too much of a woman in Virginia who let boys see her boobs for a quarter.

It would make lots more sense to me if in return for research money, the one to lift her shirt would be an MS sufferer.

MS is an equal opportunity disease and the research needs are competing for funds with a lot of other equally worthy causes. This web site will be forwarded around and may bring in a sort of donor who would never have darkened the door of a traditional fundraising site. Who knows? If she's comfortable with this form of fundraising, it can't hurt.

Also Ebbie the one lifting her shirt (IE the woman herself) does have MS.
The breasts bared or not are part of a Human body which is prone to any number of impairments such as MS.
This woman is clearly in control of her own body & her own decisions.
She is thereby disproving commonly held negative preconceptions about Disabled People.
As for the engagement of women, appreciation of the Human form does not necessarily entail its sexualisation.
As for the woman in Virginia this woman is in the U.K. & whilst it is true that we have a less sensible attitude to mere nakedness than most western European countries we haven't quite succumbed to that degree of commercialisation of it either.
Please note this post is not intended to be in anyway a personal attack.
It just happens to be an area which corresponds to my own life experience.
(see my 09:37AM post for clarification)
Peace & Goodwill,
Alec.

OK, Alec, I have now read the press release and see that she does indeed have MS. I now withdraw all of my objections.

On the other hand:
"As for the engagement of women, appreciation of the Human form does not necessarily entail its sexualisation."

gadzooks- you surely do not mean to imply that anyone having reservations as to 'flashers' is somehow impervious to art appreciation? You mean the guy in the trenchcoat is merely attempting to teach the people to appreciate the human form?

Your observation don't hol' water, son.

"As for the woman in Virginia this woman is in the U.K. & whilst it is true that we have a less sensible attitude to mere nakedness than most western European countries we haven't quite succumbed to that degree of commercialisation of it either."

This was many years ago, reported to me by my male peers; the 'commercial' offer was made in the interests of replenishing her empty bottle.

To take your second observation first Ebbie,
I think it would be more than reasonable to assume that tacky transactions are also far from unknown in the U.K. when it comes to replenishing empty bottles.
As for your um, "interesting" interpretation of my distinction between "appreciation" & "Sexualisation" as & when & if I figure out how you arrived at it,I will get back to you.
One final (serious) point.
There were only ever two people entitled to address me as son.
Both of those people have been dead for some time, therefore you cannot possibly be one of them.
So please don't.
Ok?

Hi, there may be a little "missing the point going on here", my original point was due to the fact that I am chair of Folkforms & came across the site in question by accident. It is no secret that I adore and TOTALLY RESPECT the female form. It was not until Alec said it that I spotted the wheelchair, I had however already read about the tingling in her arms & realised about the MS. The fact that she, as woman, not a an MS sufferer is prepared to do it is wonderful, more power to her elbow I say. She has raised over £5600! With our charity ( www.folkforms.org ) we work bloody hard all year to get nowhere near that figure!
So go girl go I say, because she is brave & beautiful.
Check out my site ( above ) & if are near enough come and try a concert.
Regards to you all, Skipy.
Oh & Bill, not good, not good at all.

It must be February-- two of my favorite people tangling. Geez, I hope you both take a moment to get better acquainted before resuming the fray. You'll find some pretty cool folks if you do.

Oh well, I've been known to get snarly in February too. Today, in fact! :~)

Which two? I'm deliberately not saying! :~)

You don't have to Susan I recognised myself from the "Snarly" bit.
Ebbie I will apologise for my intemperate behaviour every bit as publicly as I snarled in the first place.
I understand and accept that you are also entitled to an explanation.
However I am very tired right now & it is a rather personal matter so if I may I'll pm you in the morning.
Skipy, you missed the wheelchair? Did something else distract you?

That girl is certainly raising something but not funds from me.....I think there are other ways.....I did some firewalking over hot coals a couple of times, raised a load of money and I didn't have to show off any part of my anatomy...except perhaps my feet.

Doesn't anyone remember the really cute, nearly-nude Mudcat calendars that raised money for Mudcat? We have MS folks here. I'd have loved to see them, ANY WAY TEHY CHOSE TO PARTICIPATE.

Alec, yes, not surprisingly, I just noticed her beauty, the chair did not matter a jot so my brain must have just shut it out.
There is a beautiful bubbly woman in the folk world that I know ( and there are no doubt a lot that I don't ) who is in a chair, with whom I did a COMPLETE clothes swap, yes knickers and all, bless her, the chair, how the hell could that matter?
For those who know who I mean, no names no pack drill!

Here's the lady's explanation:

What's all this about, then?

Well, over a few drinks at the pub, I was approached by two chaps who had made a bet. One had bet the other £10 that I would flash my boobs. I queried the bet, saying that if I did.. the 'loser' of the bet got to see my boobs, but the winner got £10 AND got to see them. They decided that if I did it, they would give me the tenner to give to a charity of my choice. Deal done!

I lift my tee shirt. I pocket the tenner and promise that I'll give it to a Multiple Sclerosis charity. When I am next in my local pub, the landlord watches me deposit the £10 note into the collection box on the bar.

My partner has a thoughtful look and when I ask why, he tells me that "We could be on to something with this". So we decide to raise awareness of this illness (maybe even some people may donate cash?) and have a little fun in doing so.

I'm liking her attitude more and more:

There's a bit of me that I have never allowed to be photographed. I have broken that rule of mine.

Why? Because this part of me is becoming more important to me. It is something I have used in the past and, as time goes by, I find I am using it more and more.

The best bit about it, is it makes my six-inch heels easier to get round in. The worst part? People only seem to address this part of me, and not my "self".

So, here are pictures of me, showing for the first time...

My WheelChair.

She is a star, a brave star, getting braver by the day, whilst things are closing in around her, hopefully the comments that people leave for her help her to realise that the chair DOES NOT MATTER in the least!
