Subject: RE: So How DOES one Request A Gig ? From: GUEST, Tom Bliss Date: 23 Feb 07 - 07:03 AM Ask a few people who have seen you to write reviews. Make an A4 flier with a picture of the band and a very brief biog, and have the reviews printed nice and big. Put them on a web site (myspace is free) along with some MP3s. When requesting gigs always suggest a date, and offer to help promote with posters and fliers at nearby venues |
Subject: So how DOES one Request A Gig ? From: the lemonade lady Date: 23 Feb 07 - 06:55 AM Just that really. Been trying for ages now and I know we're good, so do the audiences at clubs and fests (the odd few we've done) who've seen us. Although lots of positive things are said, nothing happens. CDs aren't the answer. No one listens to them when they get them. It's just a cop-out statement when you enquire about a booking. I was with a professional gigger the other night, we went into a pub, he explained what he does and without asking for a CD the land lord booked him. He's never heard him before but after he's done the gig I know he'll be asked back. Ah well any answers gratefully received. Sal |
