Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: KT Date: 20 Jun 14 - 08:34 PM Mudcat friends, I've just received this message from Karen, who asked me to share it with you. " Pat left us about 5pm. I want everyone at mudcat to know how much they enriched his life. I am hoping he is out there tonight cavorting with mudcatters that have gone before him." We'll hear more from Karen when she's able. In the meantime, let's send her all the love we can muster. love to you all~ KT |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 20 Jun 14 - 06:31 PM I've just come from Spaw's thread...what maeve says is true...our belovéd Spaw Pat Patterson has completed his earthly voyage. I can't express my thoughts & feelings adequately...need some time...will try again tomorrow. Thinking of Karen & her Family & their Friends. Sending our love & deepest condolences, With an aching heart, Nigel & Ann xxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 19 Jun 14 - 08:22 PM Sheesh, Nigel, I had to do a websearch for Clan MacLaren and the tartans! I'm probably not the only one here who wants to see Spaw up, about, and wearing a kilt! (I have English and French ancestry, both by way of Canada, but if there's any Scottish mixed in, I'm unaware of it. However, I took it upon myself to adopt the Buchanan tartan when I visited Scotland many years ago. I love how colorful it is. The MacLaren tartan's pretty nice, too.) |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: GUEST,pete from seven stars link Date: 19 Jun 14 - 03:50 PM hope it's working itself out ,wendy, for you, billy and your mum. it is certainly not about money as far as you are concerned......blessings on you. UP SPAW. pete |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 19 Jun 14 - 05:22 AM Suffering from 'Spaw tunnel vision' at the moment. I owe him much. I love him very much. I crave your indulgence. Posted this on his thread this morning: Still here...still thinking...still hoping...continuing to hold you both in our daily thoughts. One 't', two 'ts'...doesn't matter how you spell Paterson (and it's many variants)...Pat, you're entitled to wear the tartan of the Clan MacLaren. The MacLarens fought with distinction at the Battle of Bannockburn in June, 1324. It's June, 2014...time for you to fight with distinction again, not to defeat the English, but to regain your health & stand tall, once again, with Karen by your side. The Clan motto couldn't be more appropriate: "Huc Tendimus Omnes"("We all strive for this") With Love, Nigel & Ann Paterson xxxxx |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Janie Date: 18 Jun 14 - 10:24 PM You are right on target Wendy. Do not gussy your darlin' mother up at all for the social worker. Appearances really ARE deceiving. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ChanteyLass Date: 18 Jun 14 - 04:12 PM Wendy, you wrote, "It really should not be about money but about the person being contented and well cared for." I say, "Absolutely!" |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: billybob Date: 18 Jun 14 - 07:37 AM Thanks all, the meeting with the solicitor went really well, we are going to have to sell mum's bungalow, and that will only " buy" us a couple of years care , keeping her in our home which is what Billy and I wish, unlike the social worker ( who cancelled at the last minute but is coming today at 3pm ) The solicitor is going to apply for " continuing care" funding which is very difficult and can take upto a year, mum is borderline at the moment but as she is declining weekly we may get it in time.My main concern is what do we do when the money runs out? I am more prepared for this afternoon's meeting," I will not be bullied" mantra at the ready! I have realised that dressing my mum beautifully and doing her hair everyday may be a disadvantage, she smiles and waves like the Queen to everyone she meets and spending five minutes with her does not convey how bad her Dementia is to the social worker who has never met her before? It really should not be about money but about the person being contented and well cared for. I just read a book by Sally Magnerson " where the memories go" Breaks your heart but she understands so well. sailing on, Up Spaw and love to all. Wendy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 17 Jun 14 - 07:25 AM Just posted this on Spaw's thread: Karen & Pat...Ann & I send love & greetings from London. You are both in our thoughts, every waking moment of every day. Respecting Pat's Celtic heritage, we offer a Celtic blessing: May the strength of the wind and the light of the sun, The softness of the rain and the mystery of the moon Reach you and fill you. May beauty delight you and happiness uplift you, May wonder fulfil you and love surround you. May your step be steady and your arm be strong, May your heart be peaceful and your word be true. May you seek to learn, may you learn to live, May you live to love, and may you love - always. With Love, Nigel & Ann Paterson |

I posted on Spaw's thread before opening this one, but I'll add an UP, SPAW! here. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Janie Date: 16 Jun 14 - 09:03 PM Funerals are all about family get-togethers, Jennie. At least, in my book. Affirming, in the best circumstances, the ties that bind and the multigenerational influence that always stretches from a past more distant than the oldest among us can know into a future more distant than the youngest among us can understand they will influence. That's my definition of immortality. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}} |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: JennieG Date: 16 Jun 14 - 06:17 PM Thank you to all. Tomorrow we will be driving to the town where John and his wife moved several years ago, 4-5 hours north of here (up in the Cold Country, although it will be warmer than it is here now)as the funeral is on Thursday afternoon. At least funerals provide opportunities for family get-togethers, don't they? Last time we saw one niece was at our son's wedding earlier this year, she and I joked that we only saw each other at funerals so a wedding was a pleasant change! Now it will be another funeral, her dad's. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Janie Date: 13 Jun 14 - 08:45 PM I had the same thoughts, Ebbie, after my sister, 3 years older, died. Strange that while similar thoughts arose when my grandparents and my dad died, it was still different and more also more intense, with respect to my sister's death. Very concerned for our darlin' Spaw. A good song to pull together to lift up Spaw and Karen would lift me up also. Wonderful year for firebugs. Notice they like moist soils. Early this evening, before dusk, they were rising up from the grass in such numbers they appeared as a shimmering and gentle rain shower in reverse. I like to imagine each flash as loving energy going to each of you. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Ebbie Date: 13 Jun 14 - 11:54 AM I'm sorry, JennieG. Maybe because I have/had three brothers close to my own age in a large family I have always thought of a brother/sister relationship as being a special one. When my youngest brother, younger than I by a year and a half, died, one of my losses was that it felt like he was the only one who remembered me from his whole life. |

We're expecting notification about the funeral soon, all we know at this stage is that it will be in the town where John and his wife lived for the past several years, four hours north of here. John was only just a year younger than I am, so I can't ever remember life without him. |
