maire-aine

I was an actor... I can play anything!! LOL!!!

also... Seamus Heaney... very cool!

Jimmy C

I do mean it about the wall, in that I want to see all that crap just END... And if nuking it into glass was the only way to stop it, then for the good of the human race, I'd push the button...

I'm hopeful that the level of stupidity where these things are concerned is dropping so that such drastic measures will never be needed....

I am also hopeful that I will see an end to it in my lifetime...

Thank you, McGrath, for posting the thread. I've been looking for that Seamus Heaney poem. I've been doing a lot of research on Bloody Sunday, because I'm working with a group that's planning a memorial service. I've been reading witness statements, and the more I read, the more I realize that these were folks just like me. They were not soldiers, they were not the IRA. They were regular folks that just wanted a fair deal. They started the day full of enthusiasm and ended up carrying away their dead friends. The website www.bloodysundaytrust.org is a good place to start to learn more about it.

Warrington was just part of the long drawn out trail of consequences. When governments turn to terrorism the consequences go on and on for generations.

The only way out is to get at the truth. And if the people who did this and the people who authorised it and tried to cover it up had told the truth all along there wouldn't have been any need for expensive drawn out inquiries years after the events.

And that would have been the least of the benefits if the truth hadn't been denied and twisted.

Clinton,

I'm sure you did not mean it about the 100 foot wall filled with water.

Red Eye - Bloody Sunday happened barely 30 years ago. Is there a dollar value and time limit to forgetting these things. ?. Is there a time limit to forget Slavery/ The Holocaust/ Pearl Harbour/ Hiroshima/ The world Trade Centre. etc. etc. etc. Before we can settle the Bloody Sunday debate, the truth must be known, as in many other enquiries throughout history, they all take a long time before they can be called complete. The present inquiry hopefully will answer some unanswered questions, like , exactly what happened to cause unarmed civilians to be shot in the back by British Soldiers. How long would it take you to forget if this happened in your country ?.

So how many films have been made about the Warrington bombing putting across the families of the two kiddies that died points of view?

I once won a best lead actor award for my performance as Michael Hegarty, in Brian Friels play "The Freedom Of The City"... based on the events of Bloody Sunday... Unfortunately , the name of the actual guy that Mike was based on escapes me... But in preparation for the role, I had the excuse to research the events of the day, and since, from many different perspectives...

Stan Rogers was right... "Causes are ashes where children lie slain."

This bollox, from both sides, has gone on way too long...

Build a wall around 'em all, 100' feet high... then fill it with water...

There was a 14th man died later. But that's just the tip of the iceberg, because Bloody Sunday really turned the troubles into what they became, it fuelled the war for 30 years.

If there'd been an honest judge instead of Widgery, who'd come up with a just and fair report soon afterwards, how many lives would have been saved over the years?

And it's not just ancient history, because there are people in places like ...... doing it all over again. But I don't want this thread turning into a battle about other things, so I took the name out there. But don't anyone pretend the British is the only army where murder is done by people in uniform, and the people and the politicians back home turn their eyes away and cover it all in whitewash.

Here is a song about it

so how many of your family were killed in Bloody Sunday Red Eye??

those 13 that left this world at the hand of terror deserve to have their memory kept alive in our souls.

no amount of money or films will ever bring them back, but it will make sure they wont be forgotten which is worth more than anything!

i just wonder would your attitude be different if u knew someone killed in the atrocity...

An enquiry costing £200 million pounds, two films and more raking over the ashes, is this something which should have been reopened or should it have been left in the cupboard?
