Apparently KT, Ebbie and Roger and Miss Kitty took very good care of him as did a number of friendly strangers on buses, planes and trains. Part III of the epic begins... |

Subject: RE: BS: Miccas Great Adventure From: Micca Date: 30 Jul 08 - 11:25 AM Denver Colorado The Train from Grand Junction (California Zephyr, SF to Chicago) was on time at EVERY stop on the trip and outside Denver at 19.10 for a 19.40 arrival!! then the Union Pacific Gits in Omaha decided to play silly buggers and we finally arrived at the platform at 20.25.45 minutes LATE!! as I was getting to the end of my "safe period" without food, it was a fr5antic dash to the hotel and a quick sprint to a local restaurant for food and meds, Kat the food wasn't as good as the Winery. So, here I am waiting to catch the shuttle bus to Denver Airport in about 45 mins for the flight to Boston and on to Maine, where, I understand, The Apocslypse will begin on Saturday!!! (or is that just the opening Band), Morty, your lFU wishes he could have fitted you in the luggage too, you would have enjoyed this sooooo much, as someone said in a PM(or post) I am having WAY too much fun, and all because Morty talked me into looking at this website in August 99, Still Sailor vie as the French say!! gotta go and pack HLVB Micca |

Subject: RE: BS: Miccas Great Adventure From: SINSULL Date: 28 Jul 08 - 09:38 PM Just heard from Micca. He is in love with Alaska, colorado, the West, the East, and in his ever so subtle way - like a hyperactive two year old deprived of his meds. He is even in love with Miss Kitty's cat. Alice will be jealous. SO he arrives some time Wednesday night in Maine. Hopefully to clean sheets and towels but I am promising nothing. Spaw - I know where you live. heh heh heh...these things must be dome delllllicately. |

Subject: RE: BS: Miccas Great Adventure From: katlaughing Date: 24 Jul 08 - 12:40 AM Well! Didn't take him long to get his laptop fired up. I only dropped him off about 30 minutes ago! What fun!! Finally, to meet the wonderful Micca...all I expected and more. What a lovely man/friend. Rog and I had a blast over dinner with him; the two of them killed a largish bottle of wine while the cats, dog and I drank water. Well, I had my chocolate rice milk, too. Oh, and the dog didn't even bark, Trystan offered his cathole for a lick or sniff, which Micca declined, and Kipling-shy cat even came out for a sashay round. More fun, tomorrow! |

Subject: RE: BS: Miccas Great Adventure From: Ebbie Date: 24 Jul 08 - 12:06 AM A little aside here while we await the gentleman: Stilly, I found that Devils Club is handy for making one's way through the boggy stuff. You need boots, of course, but if you step on the devils club near its base it lies fairly flat and will displace your weight in preparation for your next step. Much easier to navigate than the wimpy but rebellious alder hells we have here. Of course, if the Club swings at you and connects---! I remember one time when I worked at the house museum a park ranger stopped by and asked if I could get some spines out of his head. The problem was that the ranger's hair, while short, is very blond so the almost-transparent spines didn't show. I didn't really help him at all. |
Subject: RE: BS: Miccas Great Adventure From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Jul 08 - 11:44 PM Devil's club, by the way, while a tad frightening to look at, has medicinal properties, and has been used for a long, long time by folks native to the region. KT--I grew up in the Puget Sound area, north of Seattle. We have very healthy crops of the stuff in the understory, and I've had to let more than a few of the spines fester before they finally worked their way out of my hide. Bert, it looks like Micca had a good visit--and the kids look great! Such sweeties! Kat, we have an Amtrak station here in Fort Worth. If you'd just send him on down the line, we could use the rain. Looks like Hurricane Dolly isn't coming anywhere near us. (And you can remind him that my daughter Moonglow was his secret Santee one year, so there is a good reason to visit!) SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Miccas Great Adventure From: Ebbie Date: 23 Jul 08 - 11:03 PM Now that is one blissful Micca nursing that beer. What a great picture. Speaking of pictures, Micca is toting a good sketch of himself done by a local artist. Maybe he can copy it and post it on the Cat? (Micca, I don't know how to say this (sob. choke.) If you had stayed just one more day... You know how you wanted to see a bear and none came to haunt thee? Well, tonight Meggie and I ran into a bear. No, not literally. The bear ambled across the street and then back in front of us. Meggie raced down the sidewalk (pavement) after it while I shouted 'Stay on the sidewalk!' She did but she had a grand time.) |
Subject: RE: BS: Miccas Great Adventure From: Bert Date: 23 Jul 08 - 10:13 PM Is he there yet? |
