From: Micca Date: 25 May 10 - 04:43 PM Skarpi, if you fly into New York, from Pennsylvania Station the train (Acela Express or the North East local) goes to Baltimore and Washington DC direct and one of those nice FSGW folks might be able to arrange for you to be met. |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2010 News --- Please .. whats on .... From: Rapparee Date: 24 May 10 - 11:01 PM There was a thread on a Western Mudgather couple years back. I offered Pocatello, then suggested other places. It would not be all that difficult to find a place for it here in Idaho or Western Wyoming. How about MOAB, Utah? |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2010 News --- Please .. whats on .... From: katlaughing Date: 24 May 10 - 09:51 PM Thanks, ClaireBear, I hope we'd need more room than my backyard and one loo, but we'd make it work regardless!:-) And, when I get the next book published and sold with the next one in its final edit, well, who knows..,some select readers have really loved it already, so it could go somewhere and then we'd really be able to be a bit more footloose and fancy-free! This is or something better for the highest good of all concerned. kat |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2010 News --- Please .. whats on .... From: Janie Date: 24 May 10 - 08:43 PM I'm changing jobs the end of June and still don't know what is in store about needing to take time off for my family situation. I can't imagine having to miss my first Getaway since Dani dragged me to my first one, so....I imagine that I'll be there! |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2010 News --- Please .. whats on .... From: ClaireBear Date: 24 May 10 - 08:39 PM Maybe someday we'll have that western Mudgather in your backyard, Kat, so you can join in the fun! |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2010 News --- Please .. whats on .... From: katlaughing Date: 24 May 10 - 08:34 PM It's a lovely dream and I long for the day I can watch live coverage of it, barring my Rog retiring long enough to drive out there with me after we hit the jackpot, in more ways than one. **BG** Quite a line-up so far! |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2010 News --- Please .. whats on .... From: ClaireBear Date: 24 May 10 - 08:14 PM Don, last year's full fare (event; lodgings for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights; breakfast Saturday, Sunday and Monday; lunch and dinner Saturday and Sunday) cost $193, a very reasonable price it seems to me. The Getaway page mentions that scholarships are available -- at least they were last year; the site hasn't been updated for this year yet -- and I know that other ways to save a few bucks (for example, committing to an upper bunk) were also listed on the registration form, which of course isn't up yet for this year. Hope I'm not speaking too hastily... C |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2010 News --- Please .. whats on .... From: Charley Noble Date: 24 May 10 - 07:56 PM We'll be coming back from a musical tour of the UK but why not just continue on to DC. Subject: RE: Getaway 2010 News --- Please .. whats on .... From: Charmion Date: 24 May 10 - 08:48 AM Edmund and I are in, barring the ascent of any geopolitical balloons. I have yearned these many years for an opportunity to meet the great Rapaire, swashbuckler of the Idaho libraries. After the Getaway, we will be on the loose for a few days before heading north for a family wedding -- Edmund's eldest niece. Who knows what might happen? Not us! |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2010 News --- Please .. whats on .... From: Amos Date: 20 May 10 - 02:36 PM Encouraging him in such matters is ill-advised, Genie. A tall beefy man well past middle age, Rapaire is not something to see shedding his garments. On the other hand, maybe he and Lonesome can partner up and bring about a dual-moon system (or if the weather gets chilly, a Blue Moon event). A |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2010 News --- Please .. whats on .... From: Genie Date: 20 May 10 - 02:22 PM "Potables," of course, includes fruit juice, coffee, tea, water, soda, milk -- you know, the kind of beverages most folkies usually consume. Rap, Rapaire - the outhouses are heated and usually have a full supply of Sears catalogues on the floor too. You may be expected to slip the valets (Big Mick, Bobert, Amos, Bruce, etc.) a little sump'n (like a potable or a special favor) but it's not a law. And you don't have to sew name tags in your clothes unless you plan to shed them in places other than your bunk room. (Maybe during the floozy dance at Bobert's Blues Band?) |
