This is what I learned:

Spring has sprung.
The grass has riz.
I wonder where the flowers is.
(reply)
Beneath the ground they're friz.

=========
Remember how the Mouseketeers had Anything Can Happen Day? Here in Missouri, we have Anything Can Happen Weather.

Yesterday we had cold weather with four inches of snow on the ground. At suppertime, I heard an ominous rumble. 'Was that an explosion?' I asked myself. No, it was thunder. We had thunder, lightning and rain on top of the snow.

Fortunately, it did not produce much ice, at least not right here.

Saturday it will be 43, Sunday, it will be 0. Let's hope they are wrong.

Gurney: congratulations on being in New Zealand.

If Spring has sprung,
The grass aint green.
The strangest Spring,
I've ever seen.
The birds have flown,
The wind severe.
But Christmas Day,
Will soon be here!!!!!!!!!

My elementary school teacher told a story of when he was a schoolboy, having one teacher who when spring was in the air always recited that rhyme upon entering his classroom.

One morning class clown Ron Graham, instead of waiting at his desk like the other students for the teacher's arrival, hid himself in the supply closet at the back of the classroom.

When the teacher arrived, he smiled upon the students as usual and recited "Spring is sprung, the grass is riz..." and the students replied in unison (without any pre-arrangement) "I wonder where Ron Graham is."

Without another word the teacher walked straight to the supply closet, flung it open, and led the miscreant out by the ear to do penance.

Spring has sprung, and Summer's budding,
Here it's time for Christmas Pudding.

Merry Christmas from NZ.

The old Burma Shave sign version was,
"Spring has sprung, the grass has riz
Where last year's careless drivers is"

Most of them are lined up by the bird feeder in my garden waiting for the squirrel to finish scoffing the peanuts!

Best wishes,

Peter
