Subject: RE: New Song from Ron Bankley From: Little Hawk Date: 11 Feb 10 - 07:47 PM Great stuff, Ron. You sound just like you were back there right in the subject matter and time of the song...which I guess you are, in spirit, when you sing it. |
Subject: RE: New Song from Ron Bankley From: GUEST,bankley Date: 11 Feb 10 - 07:36 PM you're right Beer , man they should have held the Games in DC... talk about snow job ! They have to helicopter snow into Vancouver... but the road looks good for a few days..and that'll be enough to get rid of the longjohns..again... and I miss the songbirds around this time.. Im just an ol' grackle myself,,, Grackle and Hide.. and Dan, I'm no genius.. just a good listener and quick learner, well for the most part... but I gotta thank folks like Murdoch, Gagnier, Dunn, Winchester,Cohen and others for being so good early on in my writing days.. up close and personal in Montreal took it's toll, I reckon.... but you got to work at it... ask Bruce... |
Subject: RE: New Song from Ron Bankley From: Beer Date: 11 Feb 10 - 07:12 PM Packing!! what you mean packing? Stay North where it is warm and very little snow. To much snow South of here. Good stuff Ron. No, not good stuff, great stuff. Beer (adrien) |
Subject: RE: New Song from Ron Bankley From: GUEST,bankley Date: 11 Feb 10 - 05:41 PM close enuff...thanks Dan, I thought a few 'catters' would like to hear something new. I usually get into writing fresh material in JAN. and go thru until around mid-April or so... If I can come up with the lion's share of a project in that period, then I'm happy... I always leave room for collaboration and other new ideas that usually follow.. .. I just did another along the same lines as Cayusse to pitch for a movie trailer..the film is called "The Last Rites of Ransom Pride`... my friend, Dac, had a role in it... it`s a gritty western filmed in Alberta, but supposed to be Mexico circa 1910.. a bad bunch of hombres.. Kristofferson and Dwight Yoakum are in it.. a bunch of good actors and a mean dwarf with a sawed-off shotgun, opium smoking Siamese twins, etc... a pretty lady who has to fend for herself.. it was written by Ray Wylie Hubbard from Austin... who does red dirt outlaw music usually... so it`s kinda like Peckinpah meets Tarentino.. no white hats in this one.... the real interesting thing is that it`s going to be released online.. the guy who started paypal bought the production co. and wants it to be interactive with the public, open to ideas... which I find interesting since I do have ideas we`ll see how it all develops... either way, I wish them luck circumnavigating the usual industry methods... ``A smoking gun in the desert sun and the cage of lifeless nights Crosses stagger over rugged graves in this land of the Last Rites`` to be cont`d... okay I got to get back to packing... stay well les amies... Subject: RE: New Song from Ron Bankley From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 11 Feb 10 - 03:59 PM I'm so looking forward to Ron's new CD coming out, Dan. Thanks for loading this up on Youtube.. Ron's a brilliant wordsmith and storyteller. I love the way the words in 'Cayusse' tumble out with such instant visual impact, but then he always makes my mouth fall open in wonder at what he can do with words. I'm following that man down that dusty road...watching all that happens to him..and he sure gets into some trouble.. 'Bridge on Fire' is just beautiful too. Yay! Fantastic, Ron! :0) |
